GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An officer shot and killed a man Monday morning on the city’s southeast side, police say.
Around 8:10 a.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle near Nelson Avenue SE and Griggs Street SE. Police say the driver fled from the vehicle but was apprehended by the officer.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids will release nine video files, including from a cruiser dashboard camera, body camera, doorbell camera and cellphone, on Wednesday that show a police officer shooting and killing Patrick Lyoya.
The video will be released during a press conference at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Eric Winstrom said he will “provide additional context to the footage” and explain where the investigation stands now and what will happen next.

Could turn out to be nothing.

A fight broke out between the two
After a moment a taser was deployed
Witnesses claim to have tried to stop the driver from fighting
The fight continued another moment
Driver gets shot and killed

What happened overall ? A man was shot after running and then fighting with a cop after fleeing from a routine traffic violation
Who was in danger? Potentially both but common sense don’t # with the guy with a gun and badge

What was the danger? An idiot started a fight with a law enforcement officer.

What was the race of the driver and the cop?

I don't watch local news except at noon for the weather report and then it's Ch 9 out of Cadillac and 13 out of GR. I watch up to the weather, turn it off and get ready for work.

If the guy who got shot was black and the officer white, then protesting could erupt. Not likely if the opposite or same race on same race. It's usually a case of white cop = bad, black criminal suspect = helpless victim or if a white criminal suspect, then they got what they deserve because they're white regardless of any other details.

If you act like a Criminal you should
be treated as such.
Self Defense for the Officer as well as the Criminals.

They've already had one rally and the family has already seen all the video. Apparently he was shot in the back of the head.

Theyve posted the footage here.

Dashboard camera and body camera video shows that the officer pulled Lyoya over after realizing that the plate on the car he was driving didn’t match the vehicle. As soon as he stopped Lyoya, Lyoya got out of the car.
The officer told him to get back in the car, but Lyoya didn’t. The officer asked him if he had a license. Lyoya seemed confused. The officer asked if he spoke English. Lyoya said he did.
When Lyoya stepped away, the officer grabbed him. A long struggle ensued.
The officer drew his Taser. You can hear it being deployed. It’s unclear whether Lyoya was stunned by it.
The bodycam video also shows Lyoya grab for the Taser. Winstrom said the officer and Lyoya appeared to struggle over the Taser for about 90 seconds.
In the video, the officer can be heard repeatedly telling Lyoya to let go of the Taser.
The cellphone video shows the officer pull his gun. Once more, he tells Lyoya to let go of the Taser. Moments later, a single shot is fired.
The video shows the officer backing away from Lyoya and reporting the shooting over his radio.

The OPs original article already said that before the footage was released the police were going to let the family see it first. I can’t speak to the rally though.

I don't know how anyone can watch that video and say it was justified to shoot him in the head. This is a big problem with society.

Ok, he was out of it and maybe high. He didn't try to run until he was assaulted by the officer. He literally slowly took a step towards the front of his car and the officer attacked him.

The he ran from the officer to avoid getting attacked. He didn't look to be trying to take the taser from the officer either, he looked to be trying to keep it from being pointed at him and fired.

I see this as an officer training and attitude problem. We REALLY need to get officers to understand that citizens do not live at the whim of LEOs and SHOOTING citizens DEAD because they don't obey your commands is 100% not acceptable.
