I'm really very sorry

I am truly sorry.

All my life I have held the belief that the USA was a step ahead of the rest of the world in all the things that really mattered. I knew we weren't perfect, not even close. I was never that foolish. But I felt deep in my heart that we were doing it right, that we were ahead of the game.

Now I look around at the condition of this nation and the things we do on a daily basis and I feel shame. Horror. Failure. A deep smothering sadness for what this nation has become, and worse, where it is headed.

I have known my entire life that government works for itself and its own pursuits, not ours. Our Constitution says otherwise, but lets face it - in real life that document falls apart. It is routinely used against us and our freedoms more than it has ever been used for us. The people supposed to support and defend the Constitution are the worst, most flagrant violators. And all our 'rights' to force them to do their job, to remove them if they refuse, to initiate change when it is necessary...its all a joke. It simply doesn't exist.

This happened in my lifetime. It didn't start in my lifetime, but it happened in my lifetime. It happened on my watch. We have a vapid, drooling, incontinent POTUS who said we would need nuclear bombs and F-15's to secure our Constitutional rights. We have a complete blathering fool of a POTUS blatantly declaring racist policy in nominating the next SCJ. We have a racist, hateful, incompetent bigot, with a pedophile crackhead son, laundering millions of US tax dollars through pay-for-play fraud in the Ukraine. And there is nothing that even remotely resembles justice anywhere on the horizon.

I am sorry. When I was young we knew what a boy or a girl was. Today, not so much. You can have a sausage swinging but claim you are a woman and everyone has to participate in your delusion or else they get branded antisocial and risk losing social justice points which could lead to garnishment or outright cancelation. When I was younger women fought for the right to participate in mens sports. We allowed them to do so when they wanted to. It was the right thing to do. Now we have men fighting for the right to compete against women in womens sports. Men who couldn't compete against their own gender are breaking records in womens sports and half of this country is cheering them on for doing it. What happened to all the feminists? When did He for She become He IS She? Its just sick. If this is progress - you can have it.

When I was young we had a sense of justice. We had some faith in the system. We knew that when a really sick bastage like a pedophile went before the courts he would get the worst punishment we were allowed to give, just because. Now we have a judge who is famous for leniency on pedophiles about to be nominated to the Supreme Court. She cant even define what a woman is. How can she interpret the 19th amendment? How can she defend an amendment that guarantees women's right to vote if she doesn't even know what a woman is? And why are women okay with this???

I am sorry. When I was young people could see through bs and didn't mind telling you. They knew that it was wrong to brag about how many lifeboats you filled when you sank the Titanic. Yeah, you filled a lot of lifeboats. But you sank the biggest luxury liner on Earth and killed thousands of people doing it. Maybe you should be apologizing and making amends instead of looking for applauds. Don't cause record high inflation, then expect a pat on the back when you raise minimum wage almost enough to keep up with the rising cost of living. Yes, minimum wage is higher now thanks to you. But that income has less buying power and more people are at or below the poverty line because of you too. Stop patting yourself on the back, you don't deserve it.

I am sorry. We used to have faith in our electoral system. There was a time in this country, not all that long ago, that people would have stormed a polling place that barricaded its doors with moving vans until 4AM when they miraculously "found" just enough mail-in ballots to win the election. There was a time when no one, even the people whose candidate was about to win, would accept that kind of wretched disgraceful deceit. Today it is celebrated and it makes me sick.

I am sorry that illegal aliens have more rights in this Country than the people who pay its bills. I am sorry that our tax dollars are shipped all over the world to help people who hate us while people right here at home go hungry. I am sorry our political elite have raised themselves so far above the common man they are meant to serve they no longer hear our voices. I am sorry the fight for equality was perverted into an artificial division meant to keep us at odds. I am sorry so many people willingly fell for that obvious deception. I am sorry the dumbing down of America has been so successful.

I am truly sorry.

My father and uncles were realists. They knew of the corruption in government and warned me already when I was maybe six of the power hungry and greedy people controlling the country. Most of the corruption is at the top, back then small to moderate sized employers were pretty good people, they felt responsible for their employees. But even back sixty years ago when I was that age, there were still people that were greedy and prestigious and power hungry. I did not ignore them, I was reminded a lot of how things were corrupt all through my young years and told to be skeptical of everything.

So I am not sorry I believed in the lies, I never did. But I also was told that you cannot fight city hall....that saying applies to a lot of things in this country. People who gain prestige are more interested in keeping their prestige than helping people. Even those who donate to the poor often donate to make themselves look better, but still they do help the poor. Same with people who donate to the humane societies and take a stance against people who punish their dog for doing something wrong...you cannot keep an animal if you do not train it properly, that includes hitting it if it snips at a kid. Once it is trained, hitting your animal needs to stop though. I have heard people call the cops on people who left their dog in the car while shopping, and the windows were open enough to cool the car...the cops came and nothing was done, they did have to deal with the idiots that made the call though.

Those are a couple of examples of things that have gone astray in society, we really do not need to be politically correct or agree with the people who are delusional but now it seems that if you don't, you are targeted by people like them.

Rationality has gone out of our society, people are polarized and stick their noses into others lives if they do not agree with them way too much. Instead of love thy neighbor it is now hate thy neighbor if they do not agree with your beliefs in whole.

I cannot see our society lasting much longer, people are stirring up things everywhere, multiple different kinds of things. Most people want to be the boss...yet only maybe five percent of people in this country have the ability to be a good boss.

Ok, that is my rant since this seems like a rant thread. I don't think we can fix this, it has gotten too far out of hand. What will happen? don't really know, but I can say one thing, I am glad I am older and do not have to put up with it much longer. My dad was not a conspiracy theorist, he was a realist....most people back in the early sixties knew never to put much faith into our government.

We can blame where we are, thats fine. We can blame how we got here too.

Looking at who seems to have the ability and ressources to face the coming storm, it sadly doesn't feel all that promising.

All I can do is prepare myself as best as possible and prepare the kids too. They are the ones who will inherit this already brave new world.

America was special because it was comprised of rugged individuals that banded together for the love of freedom and individual God given rights. The pursuit of happiness, coming together for the common good but still retaining what makes us free thinking individuals. Independent, but working together.

Today, something sinister is trying to eradicate that individual thinking in favor of a collective. If we go that route, and it seems possible under our current leadership, we are doomed as a nation of free thinking individuals.

I too am sorry. I weep for the loss of the America I remember in my youth. The older people know what I’m talking about, the younger generations have no concept. No, it was not perfect, it had its problems. But people have flocked to America for its promise, and still do.

I pray daily that we can go back to that time of freedom I have known in my early life. Anything was possible. Now, I am grateful I lived thru that time, but I’m pretty sure it’s not coming back. Young people today demand to be taken care of instead of working for what they want.

So, I’m sorry too, but I’m also happy that I’m at the end of my life, and probably won’t have too much longer to deal with this. I’m also sorry that the later generations will never experience the America I knew.

I've never understood why we are punished for being good.

Fix your house up all nice, get TAXED more.
Work harder, get TAXED more.
Do all the right things, pay more, more and more.
