Feds in Khaki Pants March in DC - 2021

If you read an earlier take here, you know that a group of about 200 men wearing matching hats, blue jackets, and khaki pants marched in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. They marched around D.C. monuments then disappeared. It was absurd theater.

With few exceptions they all wore white masks and sunglasses, which gave a vibe of 200 dudes auditioning for a remake of the Invisible Man. Appropriately, they quickly disappeared, but instead of vanishing by stripping naked, they jumped into the backs of U-Haul trucks and sped away into the night — maybe to a Denny’s for early-bird dinner.

The group was reportedly called Patriot Front. What is Patriot Front? Only the 200 people wearing khaki pants likely know.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (which has labeled churches “hate” groups) claims that Patriot Front was founded after Charlottesville. Its founder is named Tommy Rousseau. Rousseau is a native of Dallas and founded Patriot Front, aka Invisible Khaki Men, when he was 18. According to the SPLC, they rarely come out in the daylight and rarely “rally” with other White Supremacists. So, besides being Invisible Men, and they might be vampires.

Where have we seen "Patriot Front" before. Anyone remember this?

Watching the video and looking at the pictures just isn't enough to understand this. Put yourself in their shoes. Can you imagine coming home to your kids or significant other and they say "What did you do at work today?" Of course you say "Oh, it was a quiet day, just some meetings." But the truthful answer would be "I was told to make believe I was a white supremacist to create anger and tension in the country, perpetrate fraud, and incite violence that will likely result in injuries and/or killings across the country."

There are only two types of people doing this. Evil sociopaths who truly support these actions, or beaten down former patriots who don't want to be there, but have to support their family.

I feel sorry for the latter. The eyes of some of them say it all.

Interesting how noone in the News Media cares enough to learn what happens to the "Patriot Front" members after they are hauled in and "booked". I bet they leave late at night in vans driven by their government colleagues.

As reported, the Obamas asked the board's permission to install a 2,500-gallon commercial propane tank on their property. "We've never had a private propane tank come to us," select board member Arthur Smadbeck told the MV Times. Board member Michael Donaroma added that a private-residence propane tank is typically a fraction of the quantity being requested.

When there is a conflict between practical and moral, we have to ask...

Do we want to be a practically driven society or a morally driven society? Or do we want to find some compromise?

Nothing exists in a vacuum. If we are going to take a moral absolutist position against abortion, we also have to examine our societal context:

Our position on sex education.
Our position on birth control.
Our positions on rape and birth defects.
What we do with unwanted babies after a woman has been forced against her will to go through 9 months of pregnancy and give birth.
Our leave from work policies for pregnancies.
Our health care system.
How families in poverty raise unwanted children.
The issues where child services becomes a front for trafficking.
The issues where unwanted children may be subject to neglect or abuse.

The problem with taking a moral absolutist position on any single issue is that it only properly works in a society that is uniformly moral.

We aren’t there yet. Even with murder of grown individuals we have courts attempting to define what degree of murder it was and what the punishment should be. We also have a thing called “justifiable homicide.” Not to mention executions and war.

Granted, the abortion situation is in dire need of vast overhaul. But we also need to address a host of surrounding issues before we can create a truly satisfactory solution.

cranky, Ethereum went down to $1169 at one point - I know as I watched it happen - but summaries say the daily low was $1193, haha. It's since risen to £1246, so I'm waiting for the next 3rd dip which is the pattern for the big drops today.
