Oahu was interesting. Mild weather down on the coast and green at lower elevations. Go up higher and it looked a lot drier with pineapple plantations around.

I think when an island has any kind of elevation, it is like a mountain-- in that it has its own climate that doesn't necessarily fit well into the predominate regional climate.
