I don't know what to think until I know how it is being divided up amongst the states. The article says that Florida, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Louisiana were taking 70% of the free supply. That's hardly fair. I think they should be divided up amongst the states according to population. If states want more than that, then they could buy some on own.

Isn't the free covid treatment, that was set up by President Trump, just for the uninsured and the provider has to agree to accept just what the government will pay? It did not cover people with insurance. Insurance companies had voluntarily waived the out of pocket costs, but many of them have recently rolled that back and are making covid patients pay their copays. I've read that some insurance companies are even thinking about how to make unvaccinated pay the full cost. The only thing that is guaranteed to be free is the covid jab.

Actually, I believe Trump forced the insurance companies to pay 100% of the cost. How, I don't know the details of, but that was my impression... it has been my observation that insurance companies do not pay for anything they don't have to.

I wasn't aware that insurance companies were rolling back the 100% payment now that Biden is in office. That doesn't mean it isn't true, however. If you say it is, I can't dispute that. I do wonder about the legality of withholding contractually-obligated payments on the basis of vaccination status, especially since there are people who have medical contra-indications to the vaccine and could be seriously injured or killed by it. My wife is one of those, according to her medical-board-certified doctor.

And, with me on Disability, we simply can't afford the full cost of health care. So, again, just to clarify, do you believe my wife should die?

There are articles in the news about the insurance companies going back to requiring copays.

If your wife has a note from her doctor, then you know that most likely she is going to be exempt from any kind of vaccine requirement. And I don't have a problem with that. And since you are disabled, you should be getting your medicare or whatever or at least I hope you do. But I don't feel the need to pay more taxes to subsidize the insurance or healthcare for those who are able to work. Maybe companies could pay people more.

Fair enough.

To be honest, I was just trying to point out the hypocrisy in the present political climate. On one hand, we have Biden supporting a group called "Black Lives Matter" who is known for taking any perceived slight as a sign of racism, whether it actually affects blacks substantially or not. On the other hand, at the same time, Biden is shutting off aid to the very states with the highest percentage of black folk. Thus, "black lives matter as long as they don't cost too much."

On one hand, Biden claims to want socialized healthcare for all at taxpayer expense; on the other hand, when he deems a treatment too expensive, he withholds it because it is too expensive. Thus, "free healthcare for all as long as it is cheap enough."

Sorry to put you in that position, but your post was just too perfect a segway to make my points.

I see a lot of hypocrisy in politics. My current favorite is how my governor helped tank our economy while Trump was president, but she is not shutting down now that the hospitals in my state are actually overflowing.

I remember when my Governor of New York demanded that the President of the United States send him all the ventilators in the country. The media vilified then President Trump for not compiling with the demand.
