Lately, I've been curious with getting a few tattoos and would like the input of a few specialists in regards to rune or sacred based tattoos.

I know that such things intake energy either from you or from the world around you, acts as a magnet or a repellant etc.

So my question is - If I were to get sacred or rune based tattoos, how do I go about it?

Furthermore if I get it tattooed do I get it done in a way that I can read it but for the observer from the outside it would be upside down? and right to left instead of left to right?

I also understood that when such things are being tattooed you need to focus on the intent as the rune or sacred sigil/symbol is powered by your blood as well. So it is important to get it right...

The direction/placement isnt particularly relevant in 3d space, in my opinion. Perhaps the only consideration would be whether it is thought to exist in the relative absence of gravity, or within it (meaning "up/down").

Each one can add to an overall system, so can be designed that way from the outset.

The process is generally a form of meditation leading up to the tattoo session itself, and of course, during the application as well. The brain space I liked to use was mainly focused on the individual tattoo being worked on, its purpose, its meaning, etc. as well as its place in ones overall being and the system of tattoos itself. Then, each additional one had a bit of awareness preserved for existing ones to create interwoven threads in ones consciousness.

Simplicity can make things a bit easier during the process, but isnt particularly necessary in my opinion. The foundation can also use mirrored imagery, inverses, etc.

Bright blessings!

Depending on what you already read about the topic, I don't want to interfere too much, it's more than just the intent. I don't have a rune tattoo just saying beforehand. But I know that it is more than just intent, that is hopefully is a good one (what we consider good in the commons sense). Focusing, visualizing and meditation during the creational process of the tattoo, there's more behind. Chi, spirituality.

Consider wise.

Could not write it better, plus visualizing the creational process as it happens, to gain awareness where to focus the chi. From what I read and interpreted long ago about this topic, the shape alledgedly has influence but is not a mandatory option.

Housand of years ago Tattoos were used to identify criminals.

Don't mark your body... a form of self inflicted torture.

It helped me healing for a while as to covered the scars on my body. It had it's purpose, everyone has their own reasons.

I understand your position and agree with you concerning covering up your scars

Man, I bet that hurts tattooing scar tissue.

The surrounding area hurt but was okay. Scars were harder to cover. Some regions hurt more than others but I have had to deal with way worse as you can imagine.

the human race is doing a fine job with that itself......no tattoos needed

Im tat free myself though, had people in my life try to pressure me into getting one, but looking at most of theirs, I can tell they regret some, especially the earlier ones.......

A couple random things that you may have already come across.
The right side of the body is supposed to be the masculine/outgoing energy side
While the left is the feminine/yin/receptive side.

This may be different for some, especially if one is left-handed.

Most tattoo artists recommend tattoos “face” into the body verses out away from the body (if this applies.)

Also, if you are looking at shapes/sacred geometry it may be worth looking into the numerology based on the amount of sides the particular shape has. My personal experiential intuition with the numbers is as following:

0. Nature/God/Divine
1. Originality/Independence
2. Communication/Relationship/Cooperation
3. Self-Expression/Expansion
4. Stability/Earthiness/Lessons
5. Change
6. Love/Family
7. Mysticism/Mind/Magic
8. Strength/Eternity/Power
9. Compassionate Service/Giving back

Even if it gave you the smallest inspiration of any kind, I’m glad!

Hmm, in ancient times, warlords, chieftains, shamans, priests/ priestesses had tattoos, have you guys seen those ancient egyptian and siberian mummies with tattoos? They are pretty interesting. Oh, and as for the op, no i think there are no rules when it comes to these things... Well, maybe intent, i think that is important in all aspects of our experience on this earth.
