I really don’t mind if my mailbox top is a place of sacrifice however, it might get really creepy with animal heads piling up.The neighbors are going to be thinking “ what in the heck is going on here”.

I just might put a game camera up to see what in the world is happening if it comes to that.

Thats what you get for interfering with an ongoing turf war.

Owls. That's a classic owl move, to decapitate its prey. Owls kill their prey when the prey is available, but they often don't eat it until later. They leave the head somewhere they can easily see to remind them of where the kill is. The rest of the skunk won't be far away (if it's still there and hasn't been eaten already). We have an upland bird hunting area down the road from us and we often get pheasants and chuckers on our place. One day I went out checking fence and found no less than (3) pheasant heads placed perfectly on top of fenceposts, just like you describe with your mailbox. We have tons of great horned owls around here (big owls) and they do this all the time. One time I even found a ground owl (tiny owls) head on a fencepost, so I guess they eat their own brethren too. Lost almost all of our geese to owls. At first we thought the coyotes were getting them. Then we realized it was the owls who were killing them, and then the coyotes were coming around later stealing their carcasses. The final clue was finding a goose head in the gutter up on the roof. Owls probably set it up on the peak of the roof and then it rolled down into the gutter in the wind.

Oh lord!
A week ago I was at my moms house. We were sitting on the deck and noticed not 1. Not 2, Not even 3.... But a family of 6 Skunks walking down the side of the road, one after another in a long line.
At the end of that line?... about 10 ft behind the last skunk was a cat just calmly walking with the parade. hahaha
The skunks didnt even care about the cat.
It was like he was one of them.

That is hilarious! Thank you……😂

My neighbors are pretty awesome and I really don’t think any of them would go out at 3amish and rip a skunk head off and place it on the top of my mailbox; I guess stranger things have happened though.

You teed Darryl of real good.
Did you call him "Bigfoot" by any chance ?

Yeah, but you made three squirrels your enemy! Have you considered it was the squirrels getting rid of the skunk to send you a message?

Hope your portal gun is charged

In my garden the squirrels will chatter loudly until I come out and put my dog away....so they can get to their tree..

Sometimes, I wave em on when he's not looking.

I whistle and wave, they run to their tree...
