Huge internal rivalry, tensions, different approaches to problems etc. Nothing new with this: the Boeing and McDonnell Douglas merger took over a decade to even begin to iron out the major issues - Boeing tended to be more corporate finance driven in approach and decisions, MD was more engineers leading the way. UAC is still a collection of fiefdoms.

I'd love to have a snoop around their hangers/offices...

Something I didn't notice before, the landing gear is offset next to the EOTS, packaging must really be tight huh?

2023 for first flight.
2025 for testing wrap up.

Please, keep in mind the introduction of the Su-57 was going to be in 2017. 2021 and we are seeing...1? successfully delivered Su-57 so far.

Su57 was first foray into "stealth" so the 75 would have a bit more matured technology.

That's a unique air intake. It's both a lateral intake and a ventral intake combined. Sort of like how Su-57 has unique LERX / canard combo no other plane has.

Mig and Sukhoi were merged as UAC, I guess internally there could still be rivalry?

It's still two separate teams. They are still separate companies within the same group.

A glimpse into the Checkmate’s cockpit — also a mock-up, of course — reveals a single, large-area display dominating the control panel, plus a smaller display above it, together with a traditional central control stick and a conventional-looking head-up display.

The cockpit is still the same as in Su-35S.

Su-35S cockpit is far more advanced than 4th gen. I would put it 4.5 gen. It is strictly glass with no dials. It's more advanced than F/A-18E/F cockpit.

With the overall length they have to squeeze in a lot of stuff. Really big wing though - will definitely give it a decent fuel load for its size. Will also mean great lift, though of course top speed and acceleration may take a hit.

But I do wonder how much development this will take...

It's a nice looking plane. Supposed to be on par with a F-35. But with a price tag of $30 million per plane. Isn't this more of an F-16 type of plane?

Well, others' opinions may vary, but I take this as a bad sign for the future of Checkmate. Russia is offering to let foreign investors buy into the project. I am reading this as "we don't have enough money to do it ourselves."

Russia will also offer a two seater version:

Yeah if they are having problems keeping up with the Su57 then the Checkmate will be the same drama..
Sharing it with other countries will be interesting. All depends what countries they have help build...

TBH, I think they have to for other nations to seriously consider the aircraft.
