One of the mass shootings they are including in that "12 mass shootings over the weekend" headline is a city called San Angelo, Texas. This, while really bad, wasn't a mass shooting. He fired 2 rounds into the pavement and shrapnel hit bystanders. No one was hospitalized, though at least 1 child was hurt and treated at the scene (they initially reported 3 children were injured).

Here is an article about it:

sanangelolive.com...

If we want to solve it, first we have to be honest about it. Once we are honest about it we could probably start with mental health.

I have to correct you on one aspect, they're males, not men.

Not that long ago, you could go anywhere and see firearms in most vehicles. Even at schools. Something changed in the last 50 years on how our youth is raised. Kids still fought, but they didn't pull out firearms.

that's an important part. I have plenty of weapons and carry daily. But I have a hard time thinking of a situation where I would feel the only logical step was to pull out the gun. Once you do that, the options are very limited, and it's a huge responsibility. that alone keeps it in the holster. I just think the education part of firearm ownership is lost.

So WOMEN don't have mental health issues??? You're just too afraid to admit it's Men, and sorry not males because anyone can identify as a male, but MEN are doing the killings. Every. Single. Time. You want to preach fake news, well here is your fake news. Everytime the media spins it as a people issue, right and left, no one ever, EVER, mentions it's MEN doing the mass shootings.

wat?

I didn't disagree with you. But knowing that doesn't seem to be enough to solve this. I'm a dude and I've yet to kill anyone. Is something wrong with me?

It's definitely not a gun issue. None of my firearms have left their storage and committed any mass shooting ever. It's always the monster behind the weapons that commit crimes. In the US, guns are use to prevent crimes at least 200,000 times a year (and that is a low estimate). "Weapon of Mass Destruction / Assault Weapons" were use less than fists and blunt objects to commit murder. Only "Useful Puppets" who do not understand facts, parrot the evils of firearms without looking into the real numbers behind it. Gun Control is never about Guns, it's always about Control ... of people!

Gun or hate? Both.
In depth study? Sure, it's been done and those findings expressed and the answer is simple. Modern weapons of mass slaughter in the hands of sick and hateful people.

Those answers are predictable because they are true. What is also predictable is the backlash in defense of them not being true.

ok, explain knife killings and driving cars into crowds.

I think you smacked it right on the head here. Lack, a total lack of empathy seems to be at the root of this. I'm not a fan of fighting, not because I'm not good at it, or afraid to be hit, but because I don't want to hurt others. I don't think I'm an anomaly in that, but I sure don't see any empathy when you see this violence happen.

Men are just naturally better then women at lots of stuff, lifting, sprinting, killing, the list is long. Your confusing violence with the tools used to bring it about. It’s true men are machines crafted to inflicted great violence and we have can use tools to amplify that intent but to say all violence we inflict is bad or outright evil is just contrived.

Your logic is bunk too. It’s like saying birthing problems primarily effect females. Naturally violent tendency will emerge in the portion of humanity that evolved to be both the spear and shield and violence.

How about execution of anyone using a gun while commiting a felony?

They tried something along those lines in Britain a long time ago, they introduced a mandatory death sentence as a deterrent for certain crimes, but they found that it made things a lot worse.

Two words: "No witnesses".

Then a good program dealing with mental issues and depression.

Try getting that one past Republicans in the house. The Democrats would absolutely love to put a trained councilor in every school and a have a shrink within easy reach of anyone who needs one. BUT you'd need to put up taxes to cover it, and you'd need to have some kind of universal coverage. Both of which Republicans traditionally oppose.

The trouble is that those who need a shrink the most can seldom afford one, and that's just allowing for the people who will actually admit that they need one.

Plus, a lot of mass shootings are gang or drugs related.

It's not a gun issue. My firearms have never jumped out of the cabinet and started firing on their own.

I find it amusing that the term “mass shooting”, which used to be defined as “pertaining to, involving, or affecting a large number of people”, has been co-opted by gun control lobby and MSM as now applicable to any shooting consisting of two or more victims. It’s another sleight of hand to support false narrative.

It breaks my heart that everyone is so angry all the time. Is it from video games, the internet, antidepressants, incorrect up bringing, diet, television?

It's probably down to modern day life , guns just make it easier to do what they would already do.In the UK we've got a problem with people being stabbed because guns are harder to obtain.

It's a lack of consequences for one's actions.

No one is being punished any more.

If you adhere to a number of ideological beliefs, you're pretty much immune to punishment.

Even though the movie itself is a comedy it does raise this point exactly. The movie I'm referring to is Friday with the late great John Witherspoon as Craig's father. He sees his son with a gun and gives him a lecture about how pulling a gun isn't the way.

Mr. Jones : Oh, no, son, that's not the way it is. You kids today are nothin' but punks. Sissified. So quick to pick up a gun. You're scared to take an ass-whippin'.

[he holds up his fists]

Mr. Jones : This is what makes you a man. When I was growin' up, this was all the protection we needed. You win some, you lose some, but you live. You live to fight another day. And you think you're a man with that gun in your hand, don't you?

Craig Jones : I'm a man without it.

Mr. Jones : Put the gun down.

[Craig does so]

Mr. Jones : C'mon, put up your dukes.

[Craig raises his fists]

Mr. Jones : NOW you're a man. Your uncle picked up a gun too. He had to find out the hard way. 22 years old. YOU got a choice. This is all you need. All right?

Edit: I know this is a movie quote and I know it's not this easy. However the character of Craig did have a few things going for him that some do not. A family that actually cared about him and a father that understood what it took to raise his son. We could use a bit more of that in all communities in this country, parents that actually give a crap.

it is really no wonder that in a country where every psycho can own/acquire a gun and 1/3 of the population believe the stupidest conspiracy theories it regularly comes to such acts. hate is everywhere, but this "the government is coming to get me" paranoia and gun fetish is an american thing.

and Terrorism is a European thing. Baeder-Mienhof, Black September, killing Israeli Athletes at the Olympics. I can go on and on. Put your own house in order before you criticize mine.

I answered the OP's question. Did you not like that reply? Did you somehow find it NOT true? If that is the case I see no reason to go any further into the ''what about'' defense.

The MSM fails to explain to the unwashed masses that the true and logical reason for the increase in shootings is due to the Covid-19 narrative which included people losing their jobs, their in-person learning, increased taxes, pressure to get vaccinated, not being able to do the small things you once cherished, lack of freedoms in general really.

When you strip a persons freedom away they either submit or rebel and the latter option isn't always pretty nor is the hatred and pain aimed at the correct target who even caused the issue. There are many times back in my childhood where I lashed out in anger and I didn't even recognize what I was lashing out at to begin with.

With the amount of deflection, uninformed and misguided riots, fear porn, and gaslighting going on it truly is hard for many to tell what provoked them in the first place. I don't really see any other reasoning for the increase in gun violence other the aforementioned really unless I'm missing something. I mean, those four years of Trump seemed rather peaceful after all.
