Your Ancestry

I found out something interesting about my ancestry.
We started out here as Irish Slaves (indentured servants) and shortly after, actually became slave owners.
My family had tobacco plantations in Maryland.

Reading some of the last will and testaments was interesting to say the least. It made me believe that
There was a romantic relationship between one of my ancestors and one of his slaves. It was written in such
A way that there was not a lot of ways I could interpret it. Either that or the woman was his biological daughter from a slave impregnation.

Also saw some instances of first cousins getting married and other weird stuff. Husbands marrying his wife’s sister after the wife passed away. It was pretty common back then, but seems weird now. There sure were a lot of women that died back then, was it all innocent or was there a lot more murder than we know? I have a cool murder mystery / paranormal story that I’ll share later.

I have German Ancestry. Been in Germany is great. Therefore, I'm great. At lest in my head it's like that.

My uncle did the genealogy on my both sides of my family.
Mom's side was from France and he has them traced back to Napoleons army.

Dad's side is more interesting.
Apparently we are from England and had a castle.
Moved to Virginia around 1670 and started a plantation. Eventually moved to Kentucky then up to Indiana.

Somewhere along the way the "De" was dropped from the front of the name.

Although our ancestors kinda screwed the pooch on the last major war.

Irish/Scottish. 30 years ago, long before Ancestory.com or the internet, my Dad had our background researched.

We came over in 1620 and settled in the hills of what is now Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia.

From my fathers side, we have been in America since before it was the USA. My mothers side immigrated from Sicily.

My mom was able to trace my fathers family all the way back to the Romans. Must have been somewhat wealthy at some point in history for those records to be kept.

My mom found out, last year, her ancestor (and mine) came over on the Mayflower...ALSO that we had a couple of Knights Templar in the twelfth century.

Fathers Side.Documented First White Baby born in California, Indians had never seen a White Baby and poked Her till She cried then tried to trade one of theirs for Her. Great Great Great Great Grand PA was also there the day gold was discovered in California, also helped found a town farther West (in Sonoma County).

True Romance?

Pretty sure some of my grandfathers family was mob affiliated. After he died I was handed an old ass pistol wrapped in a weird stained cloth.

One of my Scottish ancestors was claimed to have been a 'Changeling'...placed, by the Fae, on the clan castle steps as a baby.
