Is this racist, or just good? (Uh ... for old folks, like me)

Not at all, in my opinion. That song was part of my daily musical diet... I've always loved it.

Here, I've embedded it so others can see what it is before clicking.

Thank You Encia22!!!

Honestly, for the last 5 minutes I have been desperately trying to delete this.

(Note to self - don't post when drinking!)

Dumb sheest! Gonna get a lot of flack for this one, I reckon.

K. Lets try something else.

Bob Dylan wrote "All along the Watchtower".

Hendrix redid it.

But here's Dave Masons version.

The best of them all IMO.

Bowie got away with it, and it’s a classic

I think it’s because the rest of the world hate white people.
Racism exists everywhere, nobody but the West seems to care much

Was it a genuine question, or a subtle way to stir the pot?

If the former, not sure why you would be concerned. If the latter, well you seem to be in good company here lately so I wouldn't worry that way either. Seems almost everything is fair game here now, except common decency.

The Rolling Stones with Brown Sugar, too! I've been to two of their concerts and there were people of every colour and creed. I didn't see anyone leave when this song was played.

Heck no. This is an African-American work song often credited to Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter as the author.

At 1:06 you'll recognize Ram Jam.

The actual song title is "Looky, Looky Yonder / Black Betty / Yellow Women's Doorbells" (1939) from the album Negro Sinful Songs.

Give them some Black Velvet Toasted Caramel Whisky.

They'll start posting like this.

Steve, just STFU and listen to the music.

That's one thing we ALL have in common.

Back in the seventies that was a good dancing song. I remember when that was popular. I never thought of it as racist, and I really do not know anyone at the time that considered it anything other than a good rock and roll song. Heck, not many people even listened to lyrics in the bars, a few drinks and all you were interested in doing was partying.

If this is racist... lets find out what a person of color thinks about the song...

That was rude for a genuine question, but I guess answers and proves my point. Maybe you will reconsider while sober though.

Man, I haven't heard of Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush since the 80's my older brother had an old mixtape and they could jam.
