A serving Metropolitan police officer has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Sarah Everard in south London.
The 33-year-old marketing executive went missing after leaving a friend’s house in Clapham at about 9pm on 3 March.
The Met said in a statement that officers had arrested a man at an address in Kent in connection with Everard’s disappearance.
“He has been taken into custody at a London police station where he remains,” the statement said.
A woman has also been arrested at the same location on suspicion of assisting an offender, and is in custody.

Serving Met Officer Arrested Over Sarah Everard's Disappearance

God only knows what's happened here to the poor lady.

Sarah apparently vanished as she walked home to Brixton, South London from the Clapham Junction area.

Miss Everard, 33, was last seen leaving a friend's house in Clapham, south London, at around 9pm last Wednesday.

I guess we will find out as further information materialises.

Don't look good all the same.

Edit: Apparently Police are now saying this arrest is a serious development in the case regarding there plight to find Sarah.

I hope they find her alive and well but cases like this rarely end well most of the time.

I hope she is found alive and well for her friend and family's sake. Possible sexual assault??

I'm pleased there is at least some closure in this case.

I always suspected abduction for sexual purposes followed by her murder.

It seems, sadly, to be the case.

Bummer. Sarah was a marketing executive, what a tragic waste of potential. She had a bright future to look forward to.

Update from Sky NEWS.

They still wont even disclose what the Police has been arrested for.

This is beginning to look to be a lot more than a simple disappearance.

I won't be surprised if it turns out this is just the most recent victim of the suspect. I wonder what evidence tipped them off to look into this guy.

A serving Metropolitan Police Officer all the same.

If he does turn out to be some kind of depraved wrong'yin that caused the girl harm or worse.

Edit: He's been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mate the USA has 15.28 CCTV cameras every 100 individuals.

Followed by China with 14.36 and then the UK with 7.5 cameras per 100 individuals.

The Police are indeed apparently combing over CCTV images from the area and appealing for peoples dash cam images that may happen to have been in the area when Sarah Everard disappeared.

Thing is its looking like the copper did it, given the murder charge, and the fact that they looking for her body.

For the police to arrest one of their own there must be some compelling incontrovertible evidence. They wouldn't arrest on a supposition.
The police are just like any section of society, they have good ones and they have bad ones.

That's them found human remains in the woodland in Ashford, Kent.

Confirmation of her identity may take some considerable time.
