Wait until he discovers the circle.

the theory goes that a linear city could grow from either end and be a low impact on the environment where a circular city ie how cities are now, doesn't allow for "clean" growth.

en.wikipedia.org...

gee, I hope they don't hurt the desert sands.

LOL I would agree, It's not my theory but it is part of their theory, but yes the desert in an environment too, however pretty sure the plan is to build a linear city, test it out, and use it as a model for building elsewhere. For example, using linear cities to connect to other existing cities, instead of haphazard urban and suburban sprawl.

Interesting perspective. Maybe the linear city is a test-city for building off-world also.....?

Yeah just like we're (not) waiting for you to explain what that is.

You should explain in your post what that is and not expect everyone to know about Avatar the animated series.

Why not a wavey line with worm holes to the peaks and troughs?

How many lines did the Sheikh do?

Any city in the middle of the desert preserves 99% of nature. Lol

I agree!

As still unbeaten Anno1800 player, this is nonsense design from a practical point of view. I want the production chains close to each other, the more refined the product, the more closer to the customer.

This only works in city designs where you import most of the things but not as good as a circular one. Protections against the elements etc. This is in a dessert...

It might be easier on the environment but there are other, better options. And if someone here plays Anno1800, come and get some

So basically, it is a huge building on its side with only one elivator. Would not a loop around the perimeter be better because all tracks would be one way and several trains could be in use at the same time? That would still have the liner growth on the end but faster transportation.

Will it be built by slaves again?

Interesting concept and all though.

Try to see it like this:

I heard this from my landlord. He said cars are not allowed in there at all. Who are the real slaves, for me it's the future inhabitants, but yes, probably Super Low Associative Volunteering ExpertS aka SLAVEs will build it.

Oh man, I was addicted to that game when I was younger.

Hearing you talk about it makes me want to dig through storage chests to find the disk again.

Ironically enough, I could never beat it either, always got stone walled with tools.

But off topic, I'll hush.

Have you ever been over there? They can grow rocks and dirt. That it all. they have to import everything else.

Not there but other desert countries. It's still a bad idea. Have you been on straight desert roads, seen how fast they get covered with sand? Same problem that city will face, a circular object will have better protection against sand and sandstorms than a straight strip.

You talk 1602, 1800 is the newest and best.

Thats some video, bang on point for the op.

NEOM. There goes your privacy.

Seems Estonia of all countries is doing a practice round now. Population 1.5m people.

E-cards and DNA collection? E-Estonia? They have e-police, e-courts, e-residency.
Everything they do is tracked and logged with their personal e-card. Frightening.

I think any future city build will be a total surveillance state. How can it not be

Anyone interested in this thread should watch that video. Great post
