Since I've been going to gym again I've noticed this strange new "morality" (or lack there-of) I've developed.
I'm not talking stealing, or going through other guys' lockers, and if I found expensive items like a phone, key or glasses I'd definitely hand it in
at reception.
But I found a quarter bottle of shower gel, and slipped it into my bag.
"Sinner!", said the angel in my left ear.
"Nope", relies the angel in my right ear, that's your due reward for the water bottle you once lost here.
[By the way, it was really good soap, and sorted me for about a month.]
So today I saw this Jockey underpants some dude had forgotten.
I was all alone, so I poked it with my finger, and it was all wet.
I thought, either this guy really sweats a lot, or he's one of those poor dudes who feel they have to wear shower shorts.
The clock is ticking - two minutes before lights out.
So I stuck it in my bag, and figured if I throw it in the wash it's as good as new (and they were new, nothing with holes or anything).
Look, if I hand it in at reception, what are the two ladies there going to with it?
"Cheers ladies - oh, by the way, I found this in the locker-room".
I bet you I might as well have handed them a noxious jellyfish!
Although they do have a lost and found, the policy is actually anything left in the locker-room overnight will be donated to charity.
I also doubt this guy is going to come back the next day and ask for his wet lingerie.
Maybe I saved those underpants from a worse fate?
Is it wrong to steal?
Well technically yeah, but I'm also discovering new products, and since I also lose some, I view it more as a "karmic" exchange.
But legally, say if the po-po had nothing better to do than find lost underwear, and they looked in my bag - oh how embarrassing.
