You could always read the printed press, it's more prosperous and productive as ever.

oh wait...

Or you could watch our beloved MSM, who are unbiased and nonpartisan and always factual.

oh wait...

Honestly this has been more of a MSM aggregate for some time. The same talking points are brought here that are in the mainstream national discussion.

It's been unfortunate and rare that I see something here I wouldn't have come across on my own. When bringing up certain points, most of the arguments are through the lens of the left vs right political divide and echo the same national talking points.

Whoever wanted this country to fall back in the left right split has been immensely successful. I was a bit hopeful in 2016 when the masses seemed to want non establishment outsiders to represent the left and right (though Bernie isn't as easy to make the debate for an outsider).

Every day that goes by, I see a little less nuance, and a lot more approved talking points.

You are absolutely correct. I miss my earthquake and fukishima days.

I just fine it so odd that depending on the context, almost everyone (not just this site) admits we have a long way to go. Many again would agree there's an imbalance in the way we've given up rights, and became much of the things we sought independence from.

But the second the two party lens is applied, it's like the most of the country and more surprisingly this site suddenly acts as if one more than the other is looking out for our interest in any shape or form.

This site is pretty much Drudge with comments. You get the same stuff there. I'm not convinced ATS is all that unique or all that special. As for lurkers, I simply do not believe the numbers. It's a Linux-based operation. I have worked on many Linux sites as a sysadmin and on ALL of them, the "guests" are mostly phantom users. They don't exist. In fact, most of the ATS statistics are bogus and misleading. With over 300,000 user accounts that looks very impressive. But only 45% have even bothered to post anything. And only 3500 accounts have over 1,000 posts. a little over 1%. 3500 people are not shaping the course of world politics. Once in a great while ATS gets a mention in the MSM and everyone jumps all over it. The best mention of ATS I have ever seen is when one rather small newspaper called ATS a "cranky conspiracy site." That pretty accurately sums it up.

Schuyler,

Without disclosing identities, let’s just say this, my PM box has blown up with either members that never post, or new members pledging money — that have “lurked for years“.

Yeah, the "I've been lurking for years and I just decided to join" posts have always puzzled me. What? And you missed all those cool avatars?

It was so much nicer without politics. All we had was questions and presented with lores and legends, trying to confirm or deny it as real.

Deny ignorance has become some what laughable these days. What I find ignorant is people fighting over politics and taking the MSM news word for what is happening .

Way back when, in case you missed it, people made alternative accounts ahead of a big purge of ATS, which did happen. Think I am on my 3rd or 4th identity on here.

Think about that for a second. This place means a lot, to a lot of people — most of which, we don’t know.

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying. There are a lot of lurkers that are using this as a content farm.
I've seen some posts on things that are almost line by line what someone has posted on here.

I am sure that ATS is a news source for some of the major news sources, they get it here and twist it into something that is more attractive to the viewers they have. Usually what we work out here is decent, better than you can get on MSM.

Where am I going to get good news now, I am thinking that abandoning ship right now is not wise, ATS will somehow survive, it just depends on how the ones taking it over will sensor it. If a Soros group buys it, I am gone.

I've literally listened to talk show hosts quote a post of mine word for word the next day as an awesome thought of theirs.

Their writers use ATS for material.

YES! This is what I'm talking about. It actually might have been yours that I saw, but several others too.
One site on FB was really bad. It was almost like clockwork. We would discuss and issue on here, and two days later they would post almost verbatim.

In my case Rush Limbaugh has word for worded me 3 times that I have been told of, Mark Levin used my argument the next day and Micheal Savage had an interesting twist in his commentary that was again, word for word what I said the night before on ATS.

I don't listen to talk shows but my brother (who follows my posts here) will send me an audio of them and my post just to piss me off.

GMTA?

Not sure on that...

I'm a coincidence theorist.

Strange , I don't recall a time on ATS that politics didn't come up .
I like the Bush SR. threads on being a Socialist Nazi Reptilian Illuminati Overlord.

The news comes from many, many sources and ends up here.

I rather get it here because research is done to debunk or support the information we're seeing from other sources.

How often have you discovered the truth here that's alternate from the story you've read on a news site?

Me? All the time!
