It seems organized to a degree, and there's no doubt that it's mayhem by design. However, I think a great deal of that design relies on the bandwagon effect and herd mentality.

oh yeah definitely, alot of it was bandwagon effect as evidenced my the antifa member who was arrested. as she was encourage others to join her in the looting.

and I guess the sociaal media attidue and mentality. "well they can;t catch us all"
