Why has the media shown hospitals with long lines?

I find it rather convenient that there is no possible way for anyone to actually verify what is happening in ICU.

But if all elective procedures have been canceled, and all visitors have been kept away then where exactly is the # show?

We are currently being told that although we are afraid we will run out of ventilators we are not actually out of them yet.

The only place in the US that is reporting numbers that could be putting a strain on hospitals is New York and New Jersey, both of which have received a ton of help with make shift hospitals and a hospital ship.

Even the Governors words coming from New Yark at this time suggests a stressed hospital staff but not a # show.

So again why is the media reporting long lines when there are no long lines? Why is the media trying to induce panic when all of the official reports don’t suggest anything is actually over run at this point?

If all elective procedures have been canceled and no one to date in the US has gone without a ventilator that needs one it seems we are simply prepared for the worst case scenario. But outside of New York and New Jersey there simply doesn’t appear to be any shortage of beds or nurses. And with the extra help being given to those areas we currently don’t have shortages there either.

So why the media induced panic? And why are you and others so quick to believe the MSN narrative when there are plenty of examples where the media has been caught in lies that they later had to admit to.

We already know they used a picture from Italy trying to say that was from New York. We have nothing but antidotal evidence at this point. And the most recent statistics and models being used are now suggesting a death rate of under 1%.

Lastly, Why is it that every time I come to one of these threads I already know the names of everyone who is going to push the MSN narrative as the unquestionable truth?

Some of us are or are family members of medical pros who are acting with an abundance of caution based on what they have seen and heard from other pros they trust. We don't have cable. We don't watch "TV." We are doing the best we can with limited options to the best of our ability.

Cable news is mostly BS and yes, ratings and clicks are all that really matters when you are owned by Conglomo and the bean counters expect significant gains in four or more categories this quarter. Everybody loves craptapitalism until it affects "their news," I guess?

You seem to have a bunch of time on your hands. Why not start the revolution without us? We are full up on sick, scared, confused and lonely people around here.

Yea, but what if we continued as normal and then the virus overwhelmed us like Italy?

Im not convinced that its part scam by just showing outside of hospitals and general waiting rooms. Maybe some people are taking advantage of emergency funds..

However, why aren't any doctors or hospital staff speaking out? Not enough information to make any serious conclusions IMO.

Doctors want to speak out, but not about how fake it is.

A great many doctors & nurses etc are bound by their contracts NOT to speak out but yet numerous have but maybe those that have just aren't saying what you want to hear

Various Governments including my own, have set up emergency field hospitals perhaps the scenario is more likely that they are expecting/have been told there will be a surge in cases and are preparing for that?

Yes there are many empty hospitals in my area too but Id rather they were prepared than not if such a scenario is expected

I haven't attacked the OP. I asked what the point is, and so far the OP has chosen not to respond. I can take this OP in 101 different directions simply because the OP is so vague, although quite provocative.

Is the OP suggesting that no one at all is sick or hospitalized with CoV-19 and it's all just made up? Or that CoV-19 is real but it isn't as serious as suggested?

Or is the OP perhaps simply noting that the numbers in hospitals are not what have been projected? Okay.... why does the OP think that is significant? Why does the OP think that is period? Because the numbers were artificially inflated for maximum fear mongering and panic? Or because the numbers being calculated are not accurate, and therefore the conclusions reached are not accurate? Or because the social-distancing and self-isolation have been so successful to flatten the curve?

I could go on listing this, that and the other possibilities, but that's not my job to guess the point of an OP. The fact that I even had to ask the point demonstrates that it's a crap OP. And the OP will not even respond, and the OP has had plenty of opportunity to clarify -- if the OP so choose. What does that tell me?

The OP's effort was nothing more than rabble rousing, which is quite dangerous in this pandemic environment. I have no idea if that was the OP's intention, but it is the end result.

Stupid people. They don't treat people in parking lots. Try getting some shots inside the ICU units in South Florida, New Orleans, New York City, etc. This is very real and it's coming to you.

So many of us knew the fear mongering and doom porn was more worrisome than the virus.

I would not want to speak for them but I don't think they were suggesting anything.....just sharing what others have been.

And people write a lot of crap posts on ats....me being one of them...it is not a crime.....yet!!
