The commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt has been removed after saying the US Navy was not doing enough to halt a coronavirus outbreak on board the aircraft carrier.

Time to shut up the sheeple perhaps?

Wow! one would think that they would be safe on the high seas..this virus knows no boundaries. I would love to know when these ships set sail, this is getting weirder by the day.

The people with power of order and influence are punishing anyone who criticizes their actions rather than coherently responding to these criticisms with poise and grace like real responsible men and women should be doing. Isn't it crazy?

This pandemic is exposing the spiritual and moral retardation of a whole lot of people. I doubt they even realize that they have been exposed and they only want to push revenge on those who have criticised them.

As a former squid, I find it funny a captain of a carrier isn't offed for that kind of thing. Not sure if I disagree with him, but his complaint was a bit altruistic for a "warrior".

I wonder if he went public after his concerns had fallen on deaf ears in the chain of command. Sounds like that may be the case.

He may have known his actions would have consequences.

If it came down to belief you would lose the whole ship to illness, or save the ship and commit career suicide it would in fact be a pretty good captain that chose the latter huh?

Further implications being a public serious breakdown in command and all. Am I off on this?

Maybe Trump will intervene in the Captain's favor. He's done that sort of thing before.

It's a virus. It is immune to the strongest PR that money can buy.

Or if he just sent the letter to 20-30 people and leaked it to his hometown newspaper at the same time...

So not using his chain of command at all.

The Acting Secretary of the Navy accused him of not sufficiently communicating the seriousness of the situation prior to sending his letter, as well, but also disputed Crozier's level of concern.

Modly said the letter "misrepresented the facts," created an undue panic among families, and offered a dangerous and inaccurate signal to America's adversaries about the service's readiness.

Linky

He screwed up.

Perhaps. Hence my wondering.
But brass has been known to throw subordinates under the bus. Haven't they?

Another "acting" official. Awesome.

Yes I realize that and thus why I have included my links that reflect the reasoning imo.
They are certainly sobering facts.

So what's the situation with the ship?

I know lots of lads on board different ships that don't know what port will take them.
