I don't think some of you straight off cynical naysayers have any real clue what it takes to make a bioweapon or even what types there are.
This is a pandemic virus , it's relation to bioweapons is only in it's zoonotic origin . You can't "weaponize " a virus unless you intended to spread it .

And some of us do. A highly infectious Coronavirus is the almost perfect delivery vehicle for something you may have previously inoculated your own populous against. Read the literature - I mean the real and academic literature. A lot of work has been done and is being done with these viruses and some of that work is on the viability of weaponising the virus.

Do you know how small a virus is ?

And then , do you imagine that conventional science might change how a virus behaves short of simply killing it ?

It's a bit like believing in the lunar landings , you just don't justify how f far that thing is away .

Put it this way , if you gathered up a colony of Candida albicans , for example , it'd be white lump you could pick up with your fingers . Now you have some live pathogenic material . The weaponisation part is where you'd apply that to a delivery vehicle , some means of dispensing or dispersing it to intended victims. Don't try that at home folks

You can't genetically engineer a virus , it's too small , but a virus only mutates and infects in the ways that suit itself .

Nice link OP.

Using research papers about the virus to disprove genetic editing does nothing IMHO to dispel the rumors that the virus contaminated the public via escape from a lab. I am just a layman when it comes to biology, but having read the paper I feel the author's conclusions are reasonable.

Nevertheless, that doesn't really absolve anybody from blame, should there ever be evidence that this thing got into the wild from a Chinese research facility. It's not Nature's place as a science journal to tackle this question, and I think their piece is convincing from what they set out to prove (i.e. the virus looks to have naturally mutated).

Ultimately what I'm interested in knowing is if COVID was set loose (accidentally or intentionally) from a lab, or if it really infected us via unclean eating/hygiene practices. The latter to me is, however disgusting, understandable. The former is not, and would warrant some action from the international community IMO.

Occam's Razor.

Some food for thought.

China has a highly controlled media, both public and private. Anything, be it print, digital, voice, or video, coming from China or using Chinese sources should be met with heavy criticism and skepticism. This is common knowledge.

China has a biowarfare lab in Wuhan. This lab studies coronaviruses, including a bat type very similar to the current China Virus. There have been previously incidents of human contamination at this lab. These are known facts, and just what they will admit to.

Most products made in China are made cheaply, with awful quality control. Who is to say their lab was up to snuff? A quick look at their space agency will make you think it isn't. This is common knowledge.

The wet market the China Virus is claimed to originate from is very near to this lab. A hop, skip, and a jump really. Not across the city. Not tucked away in a military institute. Meer blocks. This is also a fact.

At that wet market, and many other throughout the country, people eat some messed up foods. The videos are out there. It's despicable, some of the things they'll eat. This is a fact.

Put all this together? Two plausible scenarios quickly come to mind.

1. Someone from the lab, unknowingly contaminated with a biological agent due to poor quality control, went to the market and spread it there.

2. Someone wanted to make a quick buck and sold some bats to the market, either not knowing or caring, that they contained an infectious disease.

The third scenario, the one that the OP and the media are positing, that this highly specialized and contagious virus came from a natural source is about as believable to me that Jeffrey Epstein killed himself.

Occam's Razor.

Why were we told in January that it had components of HIV in it?

We were told it was bioengineered with HIV components.

Someone doesn't want to take responsibility for murdering people with their pet lab virus.

The people who wrote that paper have since withdrawn it when it was very quickly proven their research was wrong.

You were never told it had components of HIV in it. Someone made the claim, and it was erroneous and they admitted as such when they removed their paper.

Shhhhhh. Why don't you quiet down with your racism and let those initial reports slink in obscurity. Maybe one day it'll return in that thread of disappearing news.

The damn virus originated in China. It meets the specifics perfectly for a bio-weapon. Highly infectious with a long time before symptoms. What's racist? When all you have is hammer, everything is a nail.

1. SARS index case in Saudi Arabia - blood sample sent to lab in Canada.

2. Chinese national at that lab took a sample of it back to a biolab in Wuhan, China.

3. Chinese modified the virus.

4. Accidental or deliberate release in a Wuhan wet market.

True or false we have to go by evidence. There is zero evidence of that.

he has #2 correct. A chinese national did take samples to wuhan. as a matter of fact she travelled there for 2 yrs every few weeks. she and her students were removed from the lab in winnipeg canada by the rcmp last july 2019.

CBC broke the story and since then... crickets

Just because you can't conceive how something like this could have happened, does not mean that it has not happened.

PROOF! An Italian News Segment From 2015 PROVES The Chinese Were DEVELOPING The Coronavirus In A Lab

From the Rair Foundation- In 2015, Italian state broadcaster RAI aired Leonardo, a show dedicated to science, which revealed that Chinese scientists had created a pulmonary “supervirus” from bats and mice “for study purposes” that is capable of attacking humans. Salvini and other party leaders are demanding to know if there is a connection with the research featured in the 2015 documentary and the Chinese coronavirus, which has wreaked havoc on Italy. In the scientific documentary, Chinese researchers in a laboratory in Beijing managed to graft a surface protein of a coronavirus found in bats onto a virus that causes SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) in mice. It should be noted that SARS was a “114-day epidemic” which “swept 29 countries, affected a reported 8,098 people, [and] left 774 patients dead…” Chinese military surgeon Jiang Yanyong exposed his government’s cover-up of the outbreak that originated in 2002–2003 in the Guangdong Province of China. According to the documentary, the researchers imagined that the hybrid (a “chimera virus”) was suitable for affecting humans, a hypothesis later confirmed by laboratory results. Furthermore, this specific coronavirus was shown to attach itself to our respiratory cells, triggering the syndrome and thus the organism can infect humans “directly from bats without going through an intermediate species, such as the mouse“.

For the same reason you would.
To know if it was manufactured.
Didn't you all jump right to that conclusion without testing?
It's been subject one for days now.

Don't you think it would be lax not to test it?

They were not initial reports.
They were initial reactions from conspiracy theorists.
Which is why people should check their sources.
