New York State has identified 12,300 cases of Covid-19.
Of those 12,300 - 76 have died.

That's a 0.6% mortality (death rate).

Maybe the Covid-19 test kits governor Cuomo is using are too sensitive and giving false-positives?

how many in serious and critical?

Normal flu death rate is 0.1% or 10 in every 10000.
Covid-19 is over 2.0 or 200 out of 10000

Maybe that means something?

And people live for years with diabetes or even heart and lung diseases until some virus comes along and cuts them down.
So ALL of them that are taken are taken earlier than without this nasty bug.
People can be so cavalier about death when it's not someone they know and love.
Not me.

40% of those hospitalized in Italy were between 24 and 54.

That's not the elderly.

I'll pray for all of them even if they don't think they need it.

It's early. Still dark but I hear the birdies waking up.
A new day.
And no one knows what it will bring.

NYC has a population of around 8.7 million people, in comparison Australia has around 25.5 million people. A city packed that densely is obviously going to see a lot more cases than most other places.

If I die from this pandemic, I die. I will not have to shovel or plow snow anymore.

Our kids were worried the wife and I would catch this virus and die and I told them not to worry, we were going to stock up and try to avoid risky situations.

So the oldest daughter's husband came from working in Alaska and came through Seattle, the wife and I picked him up from the airport and brought him home....the oldest daughter is a little germaphobia and sprayed him down with lysol when he came in the door, the wife was coughing and got away from her spraying that crap on him. We were already exposed and it had nothing to do with us, in fact, the aerosol just blew viruses off of him into the air.

Then we had to bring the other daughter some food, she did not want to have to quarantine her husbands kids, so she took an AB&B for a week to quarantine herself. Well, we had to bring the stuff into her place, which sounds contradictive of isolating ourselves from someone who just flew in the day before from India, through Hong Kong. but that wasn't bad, then her car overheated and we had to run her to the doctor and for a blood test to check clotting factors since the flight gave her a little blood clot in her arm when she went there. Ok, no problem, had to run to get antifreeze from a car place, then put the antifreeze into her car, the mask she was wearing looked impressive, but probably wasn't doing much to deter the spread

Neither of the two daughters had any symptoms of this, and I think their concern for us is unnecessary, heck, the oldest daughter even went to the casino with her husband and caught some kind of bug from there, so I had to make chicken soup and brought it over for her and my youngest granddaughter because they were sick with some kind of flu.

This keeping away from others to lessen risk sucks, we were shopping for the two daughters families too. We have spent a lot of time helping the kids lately, and I am not afraid of this virus killing us at all, but I really don't care to be inconvenienced by a sickness either. My family is more important to me than worrying about this virus. I will help them when they need help, but I am not going to crawl under their cars and fix them anymore, they can work on their own cars, I have all the tools if they want to do it here, I will advise and teach, but my back is too bad to be doing that stuff anymore.

I would like to get a mild version of this virus and get it over with, but like I said, but I sure hate getting sick with anything, I usually do not get sick unless I am on long term meds which I refuse to take unless completely necessary after evaluating what chemical structure they have and what enzymes they block.

To suggest anything like 165 million deaths worldwide is just plain stupid.

Unless you mean over the course of the next thousand years.

I'm sorry but IF 1 billion people become infected the mortality rate will not be anything like 16.5%

This is complete fantasy.

What is going on can be argued all day long, its happening, its not happening etc. What IS relevant is that you protect yourself . STAY HOME. WASH YOUR HANDS, AVOID CONTACT. That's the only chance we have of getting this thing under control at some point.

Do people actually believe our freedom and liberty is being destroyed to stop the spread of a virus?

I must be on the wrong site.

How can you know these numbers are right without testing everyone?

I'm still just talking numbers here.
That 2% will be made up in just a few years.
Currently the population growth rate of the usa is .50%.

And of course, while the odds are low, I don't want anyone in my circle to get sick. And I want to see people who have lost income because of the government-mandated shutdowns get compensated by the government and our economy recover when this is all over.

This is how everyone feels.
Some may seem like they don't. But they do.

Honestly it's kind of sad that we all want to go back to a system that was poisoning the air , water , food , and our minds. A system that leads to divisive politics and drone strikes. A system that puts the rich on top and to hell with everyone else. A system that lead to this virus in the first place.

But we do. I guess at least with that system we felt free and safe.

It means you don't understand basic statistics....

Normal flu death rate is calculated by estimating total population of flu carries....

Covid death rate is only based on KNOWN cases since they just started testing for it. The vast majority of covid carries show no symptoms, don't go to the hospital, or even know they have it. So there could be literally millions of people carrying it. In other words, instead of their being 300,000 REPORTED cases, there in fact could be several million which significantly reduces the death rate.

Those numbers are hard to find. But since the news media is not constantly talking about it, the number must be very low.

As a matter of fact, the news media is talking mostly about things ancillary to the virus, like we're in a big Covid-19 Exercise, instead of a real pandemic.

They are probably starting to slowly try to change the narrative as it will start becoming clearer that this was mass hysteria. It is going to go from "OMG, we are all going to die" to "Well, this was a good exercise in case of something more serious and we did save some lives (even though they can't really prove it)."

The left will start blaming Trump for not shutting down the hysteria even though they accused him of not taking it serious enough earlier on...

Just watch, everyone is going to start running for cover to not be blamed for blowing up economy when people start realizing the end is not near....

We're also seeing why the MSM/Democrats were screaming for increased testing. Rather than correctly state that increased testing is uncovering more CoronaVirus cases, they're portraying it as "Corona Virus is spreading like wildfire".

Pure panic inducement via a LIE. MSM/Democrats knew that if the increased testing was delayed, most would recover on their own, and they would lose their window to incite the phase of "the sky is falling" headlines that they're gleefully reporting about New York City now.

Google New York City Covid-19 hospitalizations, and all you'll see is what's expected...not actual numbers...even today.

ABC New York does say that 1 person per hour is dying in NYC from Covid-19. But they don't say if that's over a multi-day period, or from 9am to the article's publish time on that day. They won't say, "One person has died every hour since 9am this morning".

It is sensationalism in headlines to make something sound worse...

The typical person has little context for the numbers.

It took some digging, but in NY this flu season per the CDC, they've already had 21,000 hospitalizations related to the flu. I couldn't find the total death rate broken out by NYC alone, but I'd bet a steak dinner it runs similar to Covid.

I did find a chart of flu deaths in US going back about a decade and I could down load the CSV file.

Let this sink in...

The first 10 weeks of 2020, per the CDC, the flu has killed 4,323 people.

CDC Weekly Flu Report

Total Covid deaths of 392

they were interviewing the guy that helped to wipe out small pox.

He thinks there will be 1 billion people infected and possibly 165 million deaths. Not out of the realm of possibility if we don't take this seriously.

Let that sink in.

www.wired.com...

I can’t see this happening, but I do think we will be looking at several million infected when it is all said and done.
