There's also a direct correlation between unemployment and chances of dying.

I think the statistics were for every 1% increase in unemployment there's a 6% increase in your chances of dying.

So laying off half the bloody workforce will likely kill many more than every virus on Earth.

Especially in 3rd world countries, the economic fallout will be a catastrophe.

Chew on that.

BS , If People are Dying at that Rate , it's for OTHER Reasons ................

Anger is the second step to acceptance...

You're getting there...

I appreciate your conviction. Maybe you’re right - I hope you’re not but you very well might be.

However, you speak in a lot of platitudes and prophetic messages... not a lot of data or substance. Multiple members have scaled this data in a lot of ways - little of which supports your convictions.

Now, based on the number of stars for your comments it seems the sentiment around here has turned in your favor.

We’ll see who’s right.

Re: www.worldometers.info...

New York State has identified 12,300 cases of Covid-19.
Of those 12,300 - 76 have died.

That's a 0.6% mortality (death rate).

Maybe the Covid-19 test kits governor Cuomo is using are too sensitive and giving false-positives?

how many in serious and critical?

Those numbers are hard to find. But since the news media is not constantly talking about it, the number must be very low.

As a matter of fact, the news media is talking mostly about things ancillary to the virus, like we're in a big Covid-19 Exercise, instead of a real pandemic.

so no clue on the strain it has on the medical system?

Do people actually believe our freedom and liberty is being destroyed to stop the spread of a virus?

I must be on the wrong site.

No you're in the right place.

Some folks sadly believe their rights trump (pun intended) others, they somehow missed the meaning of infringe on others, I blame the education system.

So your plan is to not test for the virus, because if you test them you might find cases of said virus.

Do you work for the chinese communist party by chance?

Just an FWI, paramedics do disinfect after every transport as a standard practice. That is not new, I used to work EMS. The precautions for spread of disease have always existed, people just care more now.

i know they disinfect and it takes about an hour, got a friend currently working as one..

my point is, there is a maximum capacity. there is an average use that was based on known hospitalizations.
how many have the extra capacity for a brand new highly contagious virus that puts alot of extra strain into the medical system?

since you know how long it takes to disinfect an ambulance after every transport, how many patients can one ambulance theoretically transport per day? theres one limit.

If you aren't taking it seriously yet...

It's time to start...

The coronavirus killed city residents at a rate of more than one per hour on Friday.

Between just 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., 14 people in New York City died from the virus, pushing the Big Apple’s total death toll to 43.

Ok Im gonna come out and say it

OP your premise is NOT SUPPORTED BY FACTS.. in fact it falls between "fake news" and utter bullsnip

last update as of 2:29 CST is that in ALL OF US

Country,
Other Total
Cases New
Cases Total
Deaths New
Deaths Total
Recovered Active
Cases Serious,
Critical Tot Cases/
1M pop

USA 46,145 +2,411 582 +29 295 45,268 1,040 139
(SOURCE)

In short there is in WHOLE USA 582 DEATHS from corvid 19

that is since its discovery from months back.

so your claim of "a death an hour in NYC" is not substantiated by THE COLD HARD FACTS.

otherwise we well be over this amount .

in fact the "common flu" has killed PER THE CDC over 11 THOUSAND and the "flu season" isnt over yet

last year the flu season killed 61 THOUSAND PEOPLE.

this is why we have a run on grocery items , the hospitals flooded with non medical intervention (but using up critical supplies like masks and gowns) , and implementation of the draconian economy destroying acts.

not saying we should not take precautions , but REASONABLE ONES.

Cool, it will take 7000 years for the virus to kill us all. There are 7 billion people on the planet. A few thousand die every year from the flu or similar. We will weather this one...

So what, 10 people have died over 10 hours in NYC? The scale of what you’re discussing seems to be missing...

I would also add to your comment FACTS proving that 10 is happening every hour for more than one hour.

devil is in the details and lately not a friend to all this claim corvid19 is worse than the common flu

or worthy of the actions being taken

Infant Mortality rate: 5.79 deaths per 1,000 live births

Number of deaths for leading causes of death:
Heart disease: 647,457
Cancer: 599,108
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383

Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis: 50,633
Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173

Just for fun 700,000 a year is the abortion number.

But hey let’s destroy the world for 2,000,000 people in the United States. Infant mortality is 2.1 million a year.

6 months from now you'll look back at your post and realize how small those numbers really are.

Car accidents kill 90 people a day in the USA...

Covid is already passing that...

The flu has still killed way more people. Over 30,000 in 2020 alone.

now including the strain that the flu adds to the medical sector, how much extra strain will this new virus add? dont just compare this virus with the flu, its not like all of a sudden the strain from the flu disappears and we only have to deal with this new virus.

Sadly, they are up to one verified Covid death every ~15 minutes in NYC...

www.google.com...

For the past two days, New Yorkers have been dying at a rate of one every 17 minutes, according to the latest grim citywide statistics.

The COVID-19 death toll in the city was 450 as of Friday evening, up from 366 reported fatalities in the morning.

"The flu has still killed way more people. Over 30,000 in 2020 alone."- Gojira54

You are assuming those "flu" numbers aren't actually untested covid cases. There is a reason 2019 and 2020 starts have an asterisk.

Scrounger: Correct. They are up to 4 deaths per hour now. Not one...

It blows my mind people still deny the seriousness of this...
