Aren't the police stations kind of small there. Do you guys have a prison there? I saw videos of the homeless there, not a very good site.

If I had to guess, we will see military in the streets of nyc in the coming weeks. It depends, if was in charge I would already be making these tough decisions. Give the American people the shock of the actions now, and start enforcing order. No miracle is gonna stop the infected bloom and weight on the hospitals in the next few days. Being naive to think the populace of nyc will stay orderly when the shtf.

I think SHTF already.

I think people are in shock,. I think people like my wife think it will be ok and have their head in the sand.

I watched a small documentary on hurricane Katrina earlier. There was a point where people realized the government wasnt going to help immediately. They felt abandoned. This is when society was in survival mode.

All it will take is a few more weeks of ignorance for a couple up populace to feel abandoned.

But that is my opinion. That is what some call "doom porn".

Every single day we are getting more and more radical news that is stripping away at people's sanity. When will the breaking point happen? Who has their head in the sand?

We are aware, we are lucky to be able take solace here. Allot of facts at the moment point to our opinions. If our leadership does not do what we think should be done after viewing public data, they are being negligent. Let’s not forget it took roughly 2 months for the USA, to get serious after the pandemic so we may see some self inflicted wounds in the coming days.

Hi guys. Been a while. Update from Chile.

I think Chile is currently headed towards Italy 2.0 if things do not change fast (more on why I think this is possible in the news I'll link). Personally I think the government is trying its hardest to spread the virus, they will probably hide the deaths saying it was a different cause. The Purpose? To save face. They are desperate to gain popularity at ANY cost. But if this is what they are thinking, I do not think people will fall for it.

Also a resentment towards people that traveled during the summer vacation is growing. People think only "rich" persons (most are middle class, not rich) have done it and are currently entering into a "hate the rich" mode and blaming them. Just read the comments in the news links and you'll see. (Of course not only the "rich" travel, a lot just take loans and some get money from their relatives abroad to visit them). Classicism almost at its finest.

The representative the W.H.O. for Chile is saying that it is NOT advisable to implement a full quarantine, his arguments are that "It is not effective" and that it could generate supply problems. He also said this:

Reason 2) People are not respecting quarantines: A man that arrived from abroad presented symptoms and went to test himself. He didn't wait for the results and got on a plane to go to a marriage, the results later confirmed he was positive.Source

A woman that has a daughter under quarantine (and the whole should be in quarantine) for being confirmed went to buy books, while she was paying she just said to the workers that her daughter has the virus and that "Nothing will happen", the workers got angry and told to not come back. The next day the woman returned to return a book.... Odd thing is the news got deleted with no reason. But can still be read from a news paper in Peru. A Dentist that arrived from Brasil and should have been in quarantine was working, he infected at least 1. He attended 90 patients in total. They are in the process of tracking them all. Source

People in Valparaiso yelled in anger to a trolleybus driver after he asked the persons in line to keep the 2 meters recommended distance from each other. The driver told them he has family in Italy and because of disobedience they are where they are. You can hear some say "We are in Chile!", a woman say "Their is no money!" Some people were organizing a massive party called "Virus party" for the 19th and 20th of March. It got canceled because a lot of people complained. The address was secret, they found the location anyways. Source

Panic has come to some cities and towns. Some bus drivers blocked the entrance through the main highway into the city of the second most important port of Chile, San Antonio.Source

The April plebiscite to ask if we want a new constitution has been changed to October. That's huge win for the government. Source

We used to get a bunch from Puerto Rico, never knew that until someone told me, but they’re still having problems producing, so that’s not working out anymore. China shut down and seized supplies from that part of the world. Now many were finding reusable PPE that can be wiped down with peroxide or bleach and that stuff is sold out. The generic products are garbage and not well made, no idea where these are mass produced.

Sounds like we should have treated Puerto Rico like any American state and helped them out more after their hurricane .

Maybe part of their rebuilding would have been new facilities to produce medical supplies .

OAC with UH last week, we planned to start the 25th, next week.
