A Canadian Snowbird has crashed near the Atlanta Motor Speedway. They were performing at the Atlanta Airshow at the time, when aircraft number 5 went down while they were setting up for their performance. The pilot, Captain Kevin Domon-Grenier was able to eject safely, and the aircraft went down in an unpopulated area.

Few details are available at this point, as it's a breaking story.

Weather and visibility here are crap right now so maybe that had a hand in it? Glad the pilot got out ok.

Yeah it is. It might have, but it looks like they were coming from a decent distance from the track, so it could have been a bird strike, or a mechanical issue. The picture on Twitter, the ceiling is pretty high around the track.

Seems like everything worked out for the best. Pilot ejected, plane goes down in an unpopulated area.

Glad the pilot ejected safely. My initial reaction was- "Why is snowbird over Atlanta..in broad daylight? " Then I remembered the Canadian aircraft of the same name...

Yep. They were performing at the airshow with the Thunderbirds, and some unusual other aircraft.

The aircraft impacted a field several miles from the track. Captain Domon-Grenier is actually married to Captain Sarah Dallaire, who is the pilot of Snowbird #2. She was flying with the rest of the team at the time.

Way to ruin an airshow.

Glad there were no casualties.
