Racism is racism no matter which form it takes or who commits it.
Mugabe was racist against white people.
Mugabe was racist against the Matabele.

Sure, the extremes of colonialism were particularly awful.....so were Mugabe's policies.

Two wrongs and all that.

Many of Zimbabwe's problems - and Africa as a whole - wouldn't be possible without the endemic tribal discord that has plagued them for literally centuries.

Totally agree, especially when those countries borders were fake products of the colonial regimes and left the locals facing each other off within those lines. Same problem Europe placed on much of the Middle East Sykes Piko and all that...................... Re-draw the borders

Most of those tribal differences pre-date European colonialism.....it's just convenient and extremely politically correct to blame all of Africa's problems on white Europeans....and incredibly inaccurate.

Drawing up the borders in Europe with straight edged rulers in a pre Global Earth era certainly didn't help ease the tribal tensions either

Certainly didn't help but most definitely NOT the root cause.

There's only so much feeling guilt about the doings and deeds of our forefathers that is needed or appropriate.

We have to deal with the now and the fact is that Mugabe turned into a very nasty bit of work indeed. He was a vile racist murderer.

Africa has been decolonised by the Brits and other European nations for decades now. It's within the gift of the Africans to deal with their borders, rather than blaming everyone else for their problems. African dictators, and the persistence of corruption and poor governance are Africa’s problem to address.

As a footnote, different colonial rulers left different legacies. The Brits were relatively benign, while the Germans, the Belgium and the French were utter bastards.

I'm disappointed.
I was hoping he'd get the Gaddafi treatment, he sure deserved it...

He got off way to easy, Africa sucks like that. No one is smart enough to realise how mistreated they really are.

Good.

While his people starved because of his anti white farmer policies, while he hyperinflated the currency, while his police and military forces killed political opponents, he declared that "Zimbabwe is mine".

Good thing you can't take it to the grave with you. Maybe there's a chance for Zimbabwe to be free from his grip and that of his POS family. The lot of which should be publicly hung.

To FB, Paraphi and Carpy.............. Yes totally understand your points and at the same time Mugabe must be viewed as the natural reaction of of section of society to supposed wrongs done to them. But yes totally agree the man himself became a horror story for Zimbabwe. Hopefully now gone it will help the people move on to a good future

That's your opinion. But you have to see it from the other side too and if you were treated like dirt like many Rhodesians were only a few decades ago by a minority regime based economically on racial discrimination then he was one of the main men that delivered some sort of justice. Things went a little tits up later and he should have done what Mandela gloriously did later by stepping down after one term and providing a next step for democracy of sorts to take hold, but initially he did well and saved the majority from a humiliating regime.
