He gave due credit to everyone on his team. He wants his right hand man there with him. I think he led the investigation but the team he led did the heavy work. His oversight kept him from having an intimate knowledge of the details. He’s trying to NOT say anything damning to himself or his team. He’s trying to NOT cause anymore drama over his report.

I got the same impression. I bet that even democrats probably don't realize this as most think Mueller personally handled every single thing.

Whoa! Mueller is not fully engaged. He seems confused and is using a standard answer of "I'll leave it with the report".
