This will just hasten the anti-trust movement in DC. You'd think Google would be smarter than this.

Ahhh but it’s okay they say, private business can do that, they say.

Don’t involve government they say,

Especially when the corporations are pushing a particular political policy

Fast becoming my #1 go-to for daily news and events - TIM POOL gives an excellent commentary on exactly what is currently happening coming out of YouTube.........

The argument "it is their property, therefor they can censor whomever they like" is at best a cop-out, at worst a strawman. Of course they can censor whomever they like. It's their property, their website, and they can run it how they see fit.

But whether they can or not is not the issue. The problem is whether they should or should not censor people, and whether it is wrong or not to do so.

They've grown too arrogant to care what everyone thinks. And conservatives apathy is not helping either.

And we all know this will be abused to silence dissent. This is just social media gearing up for 2020.

Oh well. A private company is under no obligation to enforce freedom of speech or anything else they don't want to.

#VoxAdPocalypse is nigh!

Carlos Maza incinerates YouTube over his hurt feelings.

The list of people being demonetized over this is insane. They caught one channel over a 4-year-old video knocking a conspiracy theorist claiming Sandy Hook was a false flag. The guy making the video I linked is pretty sure he'll get caught.

Basically, as far as YouTube is concerned, disagreeing with prevailing leftist orthodoxy is "hate". As Treacher explains it, Crowder's sin was daring to use "queer" as a noun and not an adjective and in the wrong tone of voice.

Dammit man , can't have that they need to be " forced" into doing something they don't want or people's feelings might get hurt.

Reading more of this from youtube.

Apparently, if you humiliate or embarrass someone or hurt their feelings, you can and will be banned.

Really? There are a heck of a lot of fundamental imam/islam videos on YT. I am so offended, I'm puking. Will they get banned????
I mean what's good for the goose...

Make a complaint then..that may be part of the equation.

Wait people's feelings were already hurt. What makes some people's feelings more worthy than others? If you're gay ... or queer ... are your feelings more special because some random dude makes a video criticizing what you think?

I've already suspected that, that is why I don't use Google owned services for certain things.

Like I said, I don't agree with them trying to load the conversation, and hypothetically the free market should correct it in one way shape or form.

I've tried to do the same. I've weaned myself off of gmail, switched full time to Duckduckgo but I just can't find a good alternative to YouTube. I know they exist but the depth of content just isn't as good anywhere else. Thankfully, I don't look for political content (I get more than my quota from ATS) but personal interest stuff is great. No censorship for what I watch.

I use it for musical content..a lot, there is no real alternative that has..as you said, depth of content.

Unless you're Carlos Maza apparently. Then you complain until YouTube bans everyone who disagrees with you because you hate hearing their different points of view even though you have to actively look for them.

And it's very easy for you to say that when you know darn good and well that it's your side of the political spectrum that's all into banning people who say things you don't want to hear, not because it's actual hate speech, but simply because it presents points of view you hate hearing.

You know very well that if the shoes were on the other foot, you'd be screaming about censorship bloody murder.

Oh ... wait, you all did that in Berkeley where today you're busy rioting to ban speakers who talk about political topics you don't want to hear even though no one makes you.

Well unfortunately the loudest voice often gets results, I guess that's why advertisers target childrens nagging.

From what I've gathered over the last couple years, "conservative views" is just code for racist # and t-shirts that say "Socialism is for F*gs."

It's not about actual political opinions ever. You don't see right-wing political pundits getting demonetized or deplatformed for bitching about the national debt, repealing the ACA, etc. They're not violating ToS when they talk about how Trump was right to pull out of the deal with Iran or how Joe Biden is a fraud for authoring a crime bill that facilitated mass incarceration.

It's never really the politics, it's all the culture war BS.
