The "source" for that claim is unvetted intelligence documents and anonymous sources. That's pretty flimsy. I'll admit it's within the realm of possibility that they knew, but what exactly would the motive be? What did they gain? What goal was accomplished by attacking the ship but not sinking it so everyone knew they did it?

Don't know, a very good question though, they might of had every intention to sink it, but cooler heads prevailed, or got so far in and realised they were caught? and of course, we must entertain that it was a mistake.

If you read the Wikipedia page you posted yesterday and know a little military history, the most likely explanation is that it was a mistake. It reads like a dozen safety briefings I got on other accidents that result from a series of unlikely events steamrolling into one big mess. It happens more than people realize. Almost 1/4th of US combat deaths in the first Gulf War were from friendly fire accidents. Was that some kind of conspiracy too? Or is war just chaotic?

Your complaint is odd. Iran is still doing normal business with Russia and China and I'm fairly certain their is no sanction on humanitarian supplies. If those kind of supplies are in short supply it's due to something the Iranian Theocracy is doing and not due to any sanctions.

That agreement was a joke. It accomplished precisely nothing. I suggest you watch Netanyahu's speech to Congress in 2015. He lays out everything that's wrong with it so anyone can understand. The Obama administration came out in response and said he didn't know what he was talking about because Israel wasn't party to the negotiations and didn't know what was in the deal yet (keep in mind, they didn't say he was wrong about how awful such a hypothetical deal would have been, they just said that's not the deal we're making). Then everything he said they were doing ended up being part of the final deal.

As someone who actually KNOWS something about the topic in question (The U.S.S. Liberty "Incident"), and some of the survivors of that act-of-war against America, allow me to set your nonsense and propaganda straight.
But before I begin, I just want you to know that you literally disgust me and that I hope you realize that what you are doing by twisting history is you are spitting in the faces and on the graves of the Americans who were betrayed. If you ever dared to spread those lies to my face, or to one of the survivors face-to-face... I better not finish that sentence.

VERIFIABLE FACTS:
1)The Israelis knew damn well that it was a US Navy SIGINT ship when they did multiple low-altitude flybys of the ship (ident procedure) with the USS liberty clearly showing color with their flags raised, clear and visible during daytime.
2)Much later, on Israeli TV, the pilots were interviewed and one said he REPEATEDLY communicated to command "I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS! THEY ARE OUR ALLIES!". He was ordered to press regardless.
3) The ISRAELIS were ACTIVELY JAMMING the freqs of the USS Liberty; They MUST have known which ship it was, in order to know exactly which frequencies to jam (And they jammed ALL of her frequencies~ she was therefore incapable to communicate far). There is a ZERO percent likelihood that the Israelis did not know they were attacking an American vessel for hours. In fact, they even knew which individual US ship they were targeting; hence the successful jamming of the right frequencies.
4) For HOURS they continued strafing U.S.S The Liberty, firebombed the deck and fired two torpedoes at it; in hopes of sinking the Liberty. Lifeboats with survivors were also strafed which is, let me remind you, according to international law a war-crime and a crime against humanity.
5) For HOURS the USS Liberty transmitted their identity and pleaded with the attackers that THEY WERE ALLIES, and that the Israelis should CEASE their offensive~ response: more bullets and more bombs.
6)IRONICALLY, it was the approach of a SOVIET Signals Intelligence ship into that theater, that prompted the Israelis to discontinue the botched attack and allow the Liberty to limb back to safety. Yes, RUSSIANS saved AMERICANS from ISRAELIS; just by being there and documenting the event.
7) LBJ's response when he heard The Egyptians are attacking the Liberty was he sent a nuclear strike-package to flatten Cairo. Less than 4 minutes before the release of their nuclear armament the commander of the strike-group got the order to abort and not nuke Cairo.
8) American survivors/sailors of the USS Liberty were de-briefed and told to never speak of this incident to the outside world. Only after the passing of time and the coming together of the survivors for anniversaries and remembrances, the truth slowly started to come out as they mustered the courage to act against their orders of secrecy.

Israels main excuse to this day is that they did not know it was an American ship.
Even though their pilots made visual contact and saw that it was an AMERICAN ship.
Even though their EW platforms identified and jammed the specific frequencies that Israel KNEW belonged to a US Navy Ship: USS Liberty.
Even though their own pilots appeared on Israeli TV and said that they knew damn well that they were trying to sink that ship to blame it on Egypt and get Uncle Sam involved.
Even though the USS Liberty, from the start of the attacs, FOR HOURS, radiod their identity and told the Israelis to cease fire.
Even though the survivors, also on the American side, have come forward and told the truth of what happened on that day in June 1967.

You are not a fair and honest player as this information requires minimal amounts of research to uncover, establish and validate. You are purposefully spreading false information (DIS Information) and it enrages me beyond belief to see you spit on the lives of the 34 servicemen who died on that day, and 170+ more that were injured.

I'm dead serious. The Liberty incident is irrelevant. Both the US and Israel have long since moved on. You're free to be butthurt about it for all eternity, but history will move forward with or without you.
