Thanks. The 2 that got me were chalk and plankton. I love the visual weirdness and thought other visual weirdness appreciating folk like me might appreciate it too.

The basic ecology of the planet remained (essentially) unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years before humans created the industrial revolution, over-population, mass agriculture, fossil fuels, deforestation, CFC's, pesticides, pollution etc

Unchanged ? What happened to all the dinosaurs ? Just sayin’...

Mother Earth has wreaked havoc on all sorts of life forms in ancient history, and we can’t blame that on mankind.

Does man have responsibility for the current climate changes ? I say yes to a degree, but I think other factors are at play as well.

Time to agree to disagree again. 😁

Oh dear, take a deep breath and hold it
are you blue yet? Exhale.

Go pull some of those weeds, that have never been there before, but can now grow, to release tension. Hint.

Here is a beverage to soothe the soul, there is a full barrel so we can share.
Now if you don't care for such nourishment there is a dram or two in the cupboard.
Just calm down and breath through your feet.

I thought of posting "The Tide is Turning" but it seemed to political.

The Shadow War is being fought now, right now as we discuss this.

Wolf Lord, this piqued my curiosity, which is insatiable. Please educate me what are The Shadow Wars?
It is far too seldom we see you, but consoling that you appear.

Here is a video of an original song called:
The MOUNTAIN.
I wrote it as a complement to our current Shed story line on Ash Mountain... Enjoy!

Oh, and please excuse the very dodgy guitar playing!!!
I was just messing about with ideas and didn't decide that I was keeping it until after those parts were recorded!!!!

G

This is a very good song Gordi!
Well done.
I played it for Gail and she also thought it was great.

I wonder how much is nature and how much is directly attributed to humanity ?
Humans are not similar to other animals we share the planet with.

WOW, well done, friend form "Down Under" you managed to widdle a conspiratorial question into The Shed in the most polite friendly manner. That is impressive and relevant to ATS but perhaps not in this context. Some one is going to choke on it.
But the questions are pertinent.
How are the fires?

Hi Sheye,
In answer to your dinosaur query:
The majority of dinosaur species died out as a result of the K-T extinction event some 65.5 MILLION YEARS AGO.
Most likely as a result of a cometary impact on the Earth.

If you read my comment properly, you will note that I said:
"The basic ecology of the planet remained (essentially) unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years ..." (Not Tens of Millions) and I stand by that.

Comet / Asteroid / Meteor impacts do happen over time and are unavoidable unfortunately (the biggest one was some 251.4 million years ago and killed off 96% of our marine species and around 70% of vertebrates on land!).

These impacts however have nothing whatsoever to do with the Earth's current "natural disasters" (Droughts/Fires/Floods/Quakes/Wild Weather Phenomena etc) that we were actually discussing.

btw - if something is observed to be a possible contributor to a situation or event, there is no logical precedent for saying that it is fully responsible for that situation or event.
At no time did I say (or even imply) that man was fully responsible for the current spate of natural disasters. My suggestion that we should stop messing with mother nature was my way of saying that we may be contributing to these issues and that it would probably be in our best interests to desist!
Is that an unreasonable suggestion?

So, what are we disagreeing on exactly?
