Flash Mob Stairway To Heaven

Just came across this one on facebook and had to share. Beautiful! I never seem to be anywhere where these things take place. Have you?
Share your favorite flash mob tunes if you'd like. Not saying this is my favorite, but really enjoyed it!

that was pretty great. stairway was always one of my favorites, and would have loved to be a part of that.

I love flash mobs. Just people being their own awesome selves and sharing it with the world.

Here's one my favorites. A true classic. I love how the music gets richer and more intense as more and more musicians join in.

Shame that the sound was from a studio recording and not the actual sound from the performance....never the less

I find the OP vid was more confusing to me than anything. Not sure why...

I kept focusing on weird details like how they mic'd up the recorders or people harmonizing, how long it took to get those drums there...

It seems like an edited music video in a controlled area more than a flash mob...

I don't know, I guess I'm being a debbie downer ha.

I assume you're referring to the yellow mics. They're just wireless mics, and there was probably a transceiver nearby.

I'm sure it was a pretty controlled environment though, most of them are. You can normally spot them coming together.

And yes, they are very rehearsed. It's not like it's a spontaneous thing. The performers just try to make it look that way.

It's usually fun for most of the people who see one and are not expecting it.

I've seen a couple of them, both at our airport. I knew they were going to happen in advance (it was put on by the airport during the Christmas holiday) and they had sent notices out, but the traveling public had no idea. Mostly just Christmas music kind of stuff, but people seemed to have fun with it.

Hey, I'm all for it if it makes people smile and have a few minutes of fun enjoying the moment!

ETA - I saw another one which was positively embarrassing to watch once too. It was some interpretive dance thing...with no music (except in their earbuds). They called it "art". Looked like a bunch of people hopping around having seizures to me. I had to look away, it was pretty awful...kinda' like chewing on tinfoil.

Couldn't really eat my lunch after that either; every time I'd take a bite of my Whopper I'd start snickering, snorting and cracking up hysterically just thinking about it. People were looking at me like I was nuts.

Naw it was before the vocalists showed up. Those flutes/ recorders are mic'd up and there's tons of reverb coming from the harmonizing section.

Maybe they're wearing a mic on their clothes somewhere.

I dunno, I just went off in other directions instead of being able to enjoy the vid

Probably because I've already heard Stairway 700 million times by now.
