Who remembers this vintage UFO documentary from the mid-late 70's?

Okay I'm sold. As long as it isn't crazy sensationalism. And any time I see that actor all I see is "little finger"

HISTORY’s upcoming new drama series 'Project Blue Book' is based on the true, top-secret investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and related phenomena conducted by the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1969.

Obviously project bluebook investigation results are in the public domain now, but were they really top-secret before, as that says?

I'm not finding what day/time it airs

So if a channel about History is now showing fictional programs, does that make it fake news?

Also - I do remember the 70's show, Project Bluebook. I'd watch it every week as a kid

Thanks for posting. I'll be watching that. I like that it's from J. Allen Hynek's perspective.

Should be interesting but I do think going by that trailer it's going to be super over dramatized with a lot of creative liberties taken.

I do wonder though, considering what has come to light over the years thanks to freedom of information, how many weird encounters in the U.S reported during this time period were actually the government/military doing things to the everyday folks or people catching glimpses of experimental tech.

After all wasn't it around this time government agencies were releasing gases on subways, spraying diseases over towns, experimenting with drugs and mind control etc, while also doing the whole space race thing with weird aircraft with some appearing like flying saucers?

I want to believe, space, aliens and the supernatural etc fascinate me, but over the years the more I look at the weird happenings we hear about the more I see men behind it. Especially when as a species we have a proven track record through out of doing bizarre # to each other.

A good example would be that thread that was posted about that woman who vanished then re-appeared 18 months later. Even after it was posted it was a hoax many continued to theorize on what happened to her. Some willing to cling to not of this Earth explanations. 2018 and people are still pulling hoaxes for whatever reasons.
The normal is still often misidentified, even when every man and his dog has a video camera on them 24/7 now and 1000's can witness something and still get it wrong.

Is it a far stretch that things were all that different 60-70 years ago, especially when it was easier to fool people?

Man I wish I wasn't so realistic and getting more skeptical and jaded as I get older.
If only all humans were just straight up honest. This would all be a non-issue.
Pretty sad our species is so prone to deceit and lying.

I haven't had cable TV in 20 years but this fall we get it free so I guess I can start watching.

Looks interesting but with Aidan Gillen starring everything will end up sounding like echoes from Game of Thrones for me. "Chaos is a ladder you can climb" etc. That stilted accent will be impossible to not hear in my head. To be fair the Exeter incident and Flatwoods WV were the first UFO stories I ever read about in Frank Edwards book Stranger than Science back in the late 60's. X files touched on it but I'd still like to see the Flatwoods incident brought to film.

Excellent, it looks well produced and so it should be with Robert Zemeckis at the helm. Sort of a retro X-Files.
I’m trying not to invoke comments along the lines of those other threads dealing with TTSA, but judging by people’s positive reactions so far, watching a fictionalised version of real events is not a bad way to introduce and expand the your average viewer’s knowledge of what we’re all looking for up in them skies.

After Twin Peak’s foray into Project Blue Book, especially in the Secret History book, I’m really looking forward to this.

Robert Zemeckis and his associates smell a cash cow. Keep in mind that a documentary is not the end result because it would be a one-time shot, it would not be interesting, and it won't return even the initial investment. It's going to be dramatic, that's what actors do. The truth is going to be left on the cutting floor.

Anyone can learn closer to the truth by reading the many books available, going to YouTube and getting an earful from Nuklear Physicist Stanton Friedman and others.

There is no need for a TV series but, hey, it's always been about money. You have it, they want it (remember the commercials you'll be exposed to).

I pass.

Yeah, I’ll prpbably catch it if I get a chance.
Reminds me, that I should probably finally get the series “Taken” on DVD or blu-ray.
