There's magic in that desert; I have no doubt.

I've only been to a few other places which inspired that emotion in me, Redwood forests being one of them, Iceland another.

I think this was the premise of American Beauty. Interesting thinking. That said I found almost all of the previous pics beautiful. That said there's no place like home.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Being able to find beauty in the most ugly of places or in times of pain and suffering, is in my opinion, where true beauty lies.

That was my attempt at sounding really profound. Now whether I succeeded or not, who even cares. That's the beauty of it!

Great post my friend and have a great day you beautiful human bieng!

I'll have to give it another watch, but I think you are absolutely right, that the movie played with the emptiness that can be associated with pursuing superficial beauty, and also playing with the notion of what true beauty is.

Thank you for posting the picture. You live in a beautiful place!!!

Beauty has certainly led many astray. It also is one thing which brings value to life, and worth following for its sake alone at times.

Hi my beautiful friend!

Well your post made me laugh and think at the same time, so I'd say you're definitely in the realm of the profound (just love the idea of true beauty being found in the most unexpected places and ways).

Funny how even the contemplation of beauty can bring out such lovely and kind responses from ATS.

Also beautiful!

Have a great one and thanks for posting your ideas on the subject.

I agree that the best type of camping is as far away from other campsites as possible!

I'm too soft usually to get to these,
but there are a few I've found which don't require major treks.

Absolutely the most beautiful camp site I made was earned by a 10 mile hike through the New Mexican desert and ravines in Bandelier National Monument, no-one but my small crew and I and the cool night sky.

My only experience, regrettably, of the New Mexican desert is from the air.

I was on a cross-country flight in a blackhawk helicopter on our way back from Fort Irwin, California. I got to see Albuquerque, the Hyatt Hotel in particular.

What I did get to see of the New Mexican desert was absolutely beautiful.

Great picture- stunning in macro, and just imagine how lovely it would be to alight and explore (minus the bears, not so romantically blinded by nature's charms as to think it harmless, lol).

Hope you're having a great day!

I'm glad to hear it! Weather's fine here too, and soon will be done with work in enough time to enjoy it.

My wife has a friend and former classmate who has taken it upon herself to document some of the beauty in our hometown. I have to say she's pretty good at it -

If I define beauty it would only be redundant as others have already shared my views.

I will leave you with these though.

Nothing truly beautiful ever asks for attention. The entire “isness” of beauty is wrapped up in that one statement.

When I moved to the US, I lived right by Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro.

I used to spend my summer vacations by the Korean Bell and messing around with the coastal defense structures.
