Here is an excerpt from the original January 2017 announcement, describing the purpose of this Office of Inspector General (OIG) investigation.

The OIG, in response to Congressional and other requests, is reviewing allegations regarding various actions by the Department and the FBI in advance of the 2016 election. The review will examine whether the Department and the FBI followed policies or procedures in connection with, or in actions leading up to or related to, the FBI Director’s public announcement on July 5, 2016, and the Director’s letters to Congress on October 28 and November 6, 2016, and whether certain underlying investigative decisions were based on improper considerations.
Full Description at: oig.justice.gov...

Here is where we stand today. Another installment of the overall report is nearing release: (The Andy McCabe section in April, was first.)

Inspector General Michael Horowitz has submitted the “Draft Report” of his OIG investigation to the principals involved. The IG investigation encompasses the FBI and DOJ conduct during the 2015/2016 Hillary Clinton investigation. The Draft Report encompasses the findings.

The Draft Report review is the last review phase prior to the Final report being released. The Draft Report review allows the principals to provide input on the facts identified and outlined within the draft.

I don't recall the McCabe section of the IG Report being floated out for inspection, before final release. But it was unexpected. This release has been anticipated for 3 months. New info kept coming in to Inspector General Horwitz's investigative team, which delayed this installment of the report. (Members of Obama's Administration started "cooperating" with the I.G. in greater numbers.)

Any honest appraisal of what went down regarding Hillary, the DNC, Wasserman Schultz and that Imran guy and his IT gang, should throw up gigantic red flags to any person no matter which side of tge aisle they sit on.

Horowitz seems to of been doing a thorough job, I look forward to his report, particularly if it confirms what we all know is true. Comey, Stroek etc... and Rosenstein are the tip of the iceberg.

Anyone want to bet they say something that sounds vaguely dire, yet neglect to say anything specific or file charges on anyone..

Just like every other trumped up GOP propaganda party investigation..

All for the show of the sheeple..

Millions of dollars so they can say “well this seems upsetting, but no need to take action..”

The reason why you should discount that is the appointment of Huber.

Huber's job is to work in tandem with Horowitz. Huber is the man to whom Horowitz is to send any evidence of possible crimes that were committed. That Huber exists means that evidence exists to some degree. How far and how many and what those investigations are we don't know because Huber's investigations are conducted in parallel to what Horowitz does and separately.

There have been no leaks on this.

There is a "positioning" frenzy occurring today (and probably the remainder of this week) that is unprecedented in U.S. history.

REAL journalists who have been following the investigation concur with your assessment 100%.

This is not a trumped-up investigation of the GOP. But you're right about one thing. Unless prosecutors take what the IG reports, and ACTS on that information (ie indicts), this will be nothing more than an entertainment nothing-burger.

Finally, a real report with real crimes and misdemeanors.

We will never see the OIG report, in my opinion.

The left will use every bride, coercion tactic, break every rule and law to keep it from the public.

Hell, we're still waiting to see what congressmen have used the Hush Fund to silence sexual harassment claims.

The pre-release version is being distributed to people named in the report. You just know that some of the more damning bits will leak out to the public. Maybe not by the people named as offenders, but by those whom the report clears.

The frustrating thing is, you can't prosecute on unsubstantiated leaks.

Gotta keep the base distracted and outraged, because otherwise they might actually see what’s going on.

Yeah...like the huge lawsuit filed against former President Barack Obama today.

Boom!: twitter.com...

Obama was the mother tree that all these Comey, Lynch, Clinton, etc, apples grew from. (Well...maybe not Hillary. She was already rotten.)

This may be shocking to hear, but most people really don’t care about Obama anymore. Let a national park advocacy group sue him. Have at it.

There are more pressing matters at the moment, concerning the current dirtbags in power.

BAM. Lol.

It's the #1 headline on Chicago TV news today. The lawsuit against Obama's "bait and switch" deception, was more important than the 18 people shot so far this week.

It will be forgotten just like when Obama sigged the IRS on Republican contributors and got caught. Nothing came of it then, nothing will come of it now.

This pre-release version of the OIG Report must name a lot of people. The Inspector General is using Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week to contact each person and sending the report to their attorney.

Each attorney/client will sit down and go over the relevant section. From there, they can refute the finding(s) or agree with the finding(s). Then what?

I have little faith that the IG report will be all that significant.

It should be, by all means, but at this point...nothing would surprise me anymore.

EDIT: Being a retired FBI employee....it pains me to say that I have about zero confidence in a organization that I was once so proud to have been a member of.

Sad days.

But the OIG can only go to those who are still working at the FBI, so principals who aren't working there won't see it.

That means people like Comey and others who've been fired or let go or quit won't get to review this with their attorneys.

People like Strzok and Priestap, however, who are still there will.
