Trump now says the Military will guard "The Border" !!

Main point seems to be the fact that so many people coming get released with a court date on a piece of paper.

Then they just don't show up for court !!

Big problem too is not enough judges.

NOW WHAT !?! πŸ˜€

Trump: We Will Guard Our Border With Our Military

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the US military will be used to guard the US-Mexico border.

β€œWe are going to be guarding our border with our military. That’s a big step,” Trump told reporters gathered at the White House. β€œWe cannot have people flowing into our country illegally, disappearing, and by the way never showing up for court.”

Next step: have the Army Corp of Engineers build the wall as a matter of national security.

June 2014 article..

Report: 90% of illegals skip immigration court appearances; 135,000 will go missing

Ninety percent of the mostly-teen illegal immigrants flooding over the Mexico-U.S. border won't show up for their immigration court hearing, meaning at least 135,000 of the youths will simply vanish into the country this year alone, according to a key House committee chairman.

What does he mean by military? The National Guard? Or is he actually talking about deploying the military on US soil?

Might as well use our high-tech military. They're now flush with cash, no major wars, leaving Syria, ISIS is mostly gone, and other countries can protect themselves.

Excellent Idea Mr. President and Mr. Mattis!

And yet there is STILL a backlog of 600,000 Illegal Immigrants waiting to be processed. UNREAL. Can't blame Obama either. Republicans have run Congress since 2012.

Pretty sure they eliminated that law (can't remember the name of it) during Bush era/patriot act.

So people actually disapprove of the military doing something useful and what they are meant for?

Isn’t that just a shocker...

Time to stop nation building, honor our troops by not financing the terrorist they are fighting, a meet them protect the border.

A great first step!

Posse Comitatus overturned by Bush under "certain circumstances"

The President may employ the armed forces... to... restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition... the President determines that... domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order... or [to] suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such... a condition... so hinders the execution of the laws... that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law... or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.[7]

They loosened a lot of the restrictions laid out by the Insurrection Act in 2007. Then they rolled a lot of it back in 2008.

If you have an issue with that, you may want to bring it up with the Founding Fathers. Limiting the President's ability to deploy the military on US soil goes back to the Insurrection Act of 1807.

Yep. I think the wording is such that they could theoretically make an argument to use federal troops on the border, but I think it would be pretty tough to get many people to buy it, especially to buy it for very long.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Guard troops used, though.
