The United States CONGRESS created the Department of Justice in 1870. Therefore, Congress is above the D.O.J.. When Congress asks for something from the Department of Justice, or one of its agencies, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the FBI should NOT be able to tell Congress, "NO!".

As I understand government, the FBI and DOJ are part of the Executive Branch and as such answer to the President, not Congress.

That being said, Congress are the elected representatives of the people and I believe any organization that receives taxpayer funding is answerable to the people. Plus, Congress controls the purse strings. They can just as easily say, "Answer up, or you don't get a budget next time around." What Congress creates, they can destroy.

Additionally, if Congress can convince them, the Judicial branch can compel the FBI or DOJ to release information. Checks and balances.

The real question here is, are the three branches at odds? Remember when Obama promised to close Gitmo? Congress gave him a way to back out of that promise by saying they wouldn't supply the money. Of course, the Commander in Chief can shut down any military base, money or no. It was just theater. One side champions the wishes of the people, and that darned other side opposes it. Unfortunately, the side fighting for what the people want always seem to be in the minority at the time. When they are in the majority, the issue never seems to come up.

You can bet that if the FBI or the DOJ are giving Congress the finger, both parties are fine with it.

Someone is telling Trump to stay out of it but he can still tweet under the 1st.

I do think he knows they will hang themselves, instinctually.

The Op is further proof that the intel agencies feel they are above the law, and hate trump.

Remember Schummer warning the president that he better not question the intel community or they would come at him? Now just this week we have proof from people like McCabe and Brennan, Comey, etc. that they are coming after trump.

This stonewalling that has not only been occurring in this case, but in many cases for decades is just the tip of the ice berg.

Yet when the FBI's own ethics body recommends firing McCabe, wheat do the dems say? They cheer on the corrupt McCabe, and demand he be paid his money!

Dont get me wrong, there are still many neocons that are establishment boot lickers of the deep state, but the dems have pretended for decades to be agianst these unaccountable bureaucrats, and now they are openly cheering for the corruption.

At this point I wouldn't give them access to anything the IG is looking at or using. The IG investigation has been run right so far, as far as we can tell, not leaking like a sieve. Start giving that info to Congress and it will be in the media in no time being spun. No thanks. I'd rather wait til the IG is done, hear it all from him, then Congress can get access to everything. It's an ongoing investigation.

Why should the authority (Congress) that created and oversees the FBI, need to take legal action to obtain documents from that agency? I don't undertand why such drastic measures are even needed. And, because the DOJ needs Congress's support on many issues, the Directors of the FBI (Christopher Wray) and DOJ (Jefferson Sessions) are hurting their departments, by not cooperating.

You know why. Because that's obviously how our Congress critters want it. The vast majority of our critters are lawyers. They know how to tweak and twerk the law to accomplish what they want and this is exactly the outcome they wanted and designed: No evidence and therefore no accountability.

This isn't an accident. They wrote the laws. They knew what they were doing when they wrote these laws... and the executive branch knew exactly what they were doing when they "executed" these piss poor laws... and they know what they are still doing.

And this isn't a Dem thing or a Pub thing... it's both/all. If it weren't, then one party or the other would have changed it a loooooooooong time ago. Or -- even better -- the laws never would have been written as they were.

Hillary's biggest fan club exists here on ATS.

If I had a nickel for every "bombshell," Hillary thread or failed Hillary prediction....

Lol. But here we are.

But don't worry, Q and Trump are going to save us all! I read it on a right-wing echo chamber that uses anonymous sources. It must be real!

Hillary is supposed to be indicted this week. Saw it here on ATS, I await the excuses after that doesn't happen.

Trump cultists don't want Hillary gone - they won't have anyone to blame for their messiahs failures, they just want to keep her relevant so she can be used as a tool to deflect away from Trump at every turn.

Nice straw man!

So I guess that the OP is just another right wing lie, and in reality the DOJ and FBI are handing over documents on this to congress.

Surely you will have no problem providing proof of that.

The first indication that your post is absurd is that you only address the most extreme elements that support this story.

I don't blame you for this....its how everyone seems to think. We generalize based on the most extreme element we can conjure up, then shape a worldview on that generalization. No wonder our elections can be tampered with simply by running ads with wild assertions.

Our government is a ####ing train wreck.

Openly corrupt.

It is corrupt at all levels, the states, the counties, the small towns, the cops .. Its unfixable and I think we might actually see martial law before I die..

The Japanese and the Russians were afraid to invade mainland America for fear of all the guns. Besides that, do you think large scale martial law will actually work when you're asking these people to put the boot to their neighbors neck?

This is coming off like you think I am anti 2nd amendment. I think we might see martial law in my lifetime because I wont give mine up..

do you think large scale martial law will actually work when you're asking these people to put the boot to their neighbors neck

Those people with the boots on our necks are going to be cops , and no I dont think they will have any problem with it once they are told that is what they need to do..

Just saw former Congressman Jason Chaffetz (on FoxNews) describe how he was stonewalled by the DOJ/FBI, after requesting the Hillary Investigation documents in late 2016. He attributed it to the Obama DOJ (Lynch/Comey) hiding crimes, but there was nothing he could do about the stonewalling at the time.

Now that Sessions/Wray are in charge of the DOJ/FBI, he's miffed as to why they weren't released to Congress right after the new administration came into power.

Chaffetz spoke very negatively about Jeff Sessions. I have a hard time believing that our Attorney General is as "weak" and "inept" as Chaffetz says he is. There's something more to Sessions than meets the eye.

I rate Sessions as low as I can possibly rate another human. Beneath Obama even.

But he's not weak or inept. His career proves that. He's smart, and silent. Whatever is brewing, i only hope its not got Sessions holding up a rug while the broom does its job.

My gut says the stonewall is because a special counsel is imminent, and will make congressional investigation moot. To let congress investigate is only going to smear reputations of the department. To get a special counsel involved with isolate individuals, and determine damage done by their policies. TO me, that makes more sense.

But we will have to see.

Until someone slaps down the Democrats for destroying evidence they'll just continue to do so.

Contempt. Congress does have a "jail"

Either that, or start firing/taking the pension of any person who won't cooperate. Congress should lawfully command X individual to present themselves to the Congress with specific documents/information. Start jailing/firing people until someone complies. Close the department if needed. Oversight and accountability outweigh any federal LE priority.

Let those career losers (the non-compliant ones) be the reason federal LE is at a stand still.

Youv'e got that wrong, lol. Hillary is infatuated with herself.

She can't even take responsibility for anything because she
is such a snowflake. Boy did we dodge a two ton nuclear
bomb in not electing her.

But aside from that, just imagine if everyone was
given a "HQ Special" like Hillary. Yeah Trump included!

Lets just hand out immunity to Flynn, Gates, Manafort,
everyone! Why not?

Fair is as fair does right?

Makes sense to me...Sessions is THE top dog...Sessions is telling Congress NO...

And I'll bet that when the IG finds nothing of significance on anyone, they'll still refuse to let anyone see their evidence...

All off you are screwed on the head. Your courts are and police are SUPPOSED to to stand independent from from the government so they can of needed investigate the government. That is one of the checks and balance's that your founding fathers build build into your constitution.

Your personal collective blindness has been stoked by the Russian for this very purpose. You are tearing down the the institution's that are your greatest strength.

Currently Putin and his fellow Russian's look like world leaders as you rip yourselves apart.

AND the Chinese are quietly buying your country.

DOJ-FBI are Not Releasing Clinton Criminal Investigation Documents to Congress

After a year I would be surprised if there is anything left.

Delete/shredder.

I remember watching the news when Sandy Berger got caught stuffing snip down his pants.

Maybe they aren't releasing anything because there's nothing left to release.

All the agency add ons are appointed (not elected) by the representatives to cover up their malfeasance and block investigations, not actually oversee the corruption.

What we got today is a bureaucratic labyrinth used to hide behind.

Now, lets form another commission and call for reform, lol.
