I used to live in Connecticut, in naugatuck, about 3/4 of a mile from the seven eleven.. it was run by two lovely people, a Pakistani couple a few
years older than me at the time. They knew all the regulars by name Anand were very friendly..one morning I forgot my wallet on my way to work and I
was running late she said" it's no problem Joe, I'll see you tomorrow"when I couldn't pay for my coffee or cigarettes..
Two days after 9/11 her husband was assaulted in the parking lot and brutally beaten, weeks later the whites of his eyes were still red..it made my
stomach turn..
Turns out some of the stars of our high school football team at the time did it as "revenge for the towers"
Afterwards both of them were never really the same, always paranoid not trusting..who could blame them...
No they were never prosecuted ..I talked to one of my high school friends who ended up on the force, and he told me "yeah every one knows but nothing
is documented"
