Was Angus Young's dementia from head banging guitar style?

If you are referring to me, Seasonal, I am aware of this fact. If not who are you trying, and failing to address?

I think Bon Scott choked on vomit.

Mind you, it may not have been his own. You can't really dust for vomit.

And Angus is still alive (by some standards of "alive").

It was Malcom who passed recently.

Yes many "great" artists have drown in their own vomit.

And yes ball was dropped on who died.

My gran died from dementia. I am 100% sure she never head banged or did industrial quantities of drugs.
A glass of sherry at Xmas was all I seen her drink

RIP Malc You were an amazing player who made some awesome parties swing.

Sadly. dementia is more prevalent in those of above average intelligence, where it is a compounded tragedy.

Hope we get on top of amyloid before all us ATS'ers go that way!

Methyl-Chloride in a tall glass with a cocktail onion and one of those little umbrellas, no doubt.

Don't be ridiculous, was David Cassidy a headbanger, or the old bloke down the road etc, etc.
The real problem here and what all sufferers have in common is ALCOHOL ABUSE.
The more money they have the greater the abuse, but no doubt in AC/DC's case coupled with drug abuse and erratic sleeping patterns etc.
I agree the head banging would have been contribulatary but not primary.

Assuming the premise is correct.

You say the idea is ridiculous and you then say it is a contributing factor.

Can it be both?

It seems coconut oil every morning takes care of it....

it's not bad so take a half spoonful or less......in it goes and pop a bit of a Mounds bar.....or an Almond Joy....and it's like a rich dessert he.....he....I know a 90 year old and he's all with it.....a tab every morning on a muffin .....or was it his Shaklee business for 40 years idk

I thought it was Malcolm not Angus who passed away from Dimentia?

That's so disrespectful.

Its possible for sure. You get micro bleeds from a day riding roller coasters at an amusement park so head banging could produce the same effect. You couple that with heavy drug abuse etc, and the cumulative effects add up.

I have to disagree.

There are hundreds, thousands, of heavy metal artists that have been head banging since the early 80's and they still do it.

While I can agree it can't be good, I just can't say that it is commonplace.

Take a look at the Cannibal Corpse dude. He should have spilled his brains out by now. I do think he has had neck problems in the past.lol. It just affects everyone different I guess.

It's like CTE with football players, we just don't have enough research to know. Sure, all the players who donated their brains, except for a few, donated their brains when they knew something was wrong. There's only been 150, give or take, and that's not a big enough sample size.

Aaron Hernandez had the brain of a 60 year old but how much of that could have come from his gangbanging thuggery when he was young? We know his gang experience happened but we have no evidence that it may or may not have played into his CTE. Maybe he was pistol whipped a few times when young and with all the fights gangs get into, so can you definitively tell me it was JUST from football?

There's still not enough evidence on either side to say yay or nay.

Diet and alzheimers are related, too much dopamine in the brain with too little acetylcholine for a long period of time can be a cause. Dopamine production is stimulated by some drugs and meds and also by things like sugary foods or glutamates and glutamines. Not everyone is at risk for Alzheimer. Dementia can have more causes, it is a broad spectrum class of head diseases. Alzheimer disease is a type of dementia. It is hard for anyone even to guess what caused this.
