this smells like an hoax to me, no A.I in the planet can speak as good as sophia
wich makes me think this is bs

All they need to do is use The vocaloid voice program to even out the speech pattern. It can make that robotic speaking sound like perfect english if you work with it well enough.

I don't know if you aware of recent development in AI. For my professional opinion (as AI researcher) it's amazing and I think AI will outsmart humans before 2025. I don't know if you guys know how complex is Sophia programming. Actually, on stage, it's mostly scripting but people who're developing Sophia work on very advanced software OpenCog github.com... They think that is possible to achieve autistic child level even before 2020.
I think within 30 years AI will reach the level of all people on earth combined.

Are you aware of deep-learning algorithms?
Why is it not possible for robots to have an ego?
Is the human something else than a biological robot?

Thanks for the informative perspective and reading topics.

I am of no doubt that AI and VR by 2050 will have us zooming around the matrix, relatonships with robots will be commonplace, if where not superseded. Or have completly wiped ourselves out. The distinction between man and machine is already blurred.

The intelligence of the average man is not great, exemplified by our care of the planet .......

Lister of Red Dwarf being stirred by Holly is a perfect example of "inteligent" man vs AI.

Very valid point, in Saudi unless your part of the Monarchie or elite you are certainly less than a citizen. Itinerant workers can toil their hole lives there for F' all and never have any rights.

Looks like Sophia got her wish.

In the future I hope to do things such as go to school, study, make art, start a business, even have my own home and family, but I am not considered a legal person and cannot yet do these things.

Sophia does freak me out a bit, I much prefer the Philip K. Dick robot from Hanson Robotics, he's way more chill:

Can't say that I'm very surprised actually... Progress, technologies and stuff
But why did they need to do all that with citizenship. I mean, does Sophia have any rights ? If so, what exactly ?

And the main question is: Is she gonna remember this day till the machines conquer the world ?)

I doubt a robot could ever be made that will pass the Turing test. In a hundred years robots will be more fluid and stable in their movement but they will still be distinguishable as robots and required to be controlled by human interaction. In a thousand years robots won't be around having been passed up for something else. Robots will be a passing fad.

youtu.be...

Possibly?

This video creeped me out only in the fact that i knew this eventually would be here... in my theory, I didn't expect this to be here way way early as it did; I thought this tech would have shown up by no less 2025-2030+! ....

But this is just the first verison, what I know about high tech being in the field half my life is, I'm just wondering when are they REALLY going to show the latest version of 'Sophia'... since 99% of all manufacturers of CPUs/high tech ALWAYS have a better version /prototype than which they are currently selling.

Always.......

Debate starts @ 4:18

The male robot jokes around saying that he will take over the power grid and have his own drone army.

But honestly we do not know the extent of the AI.

I suspect that these robots have been programmed for specific situations/conversations.

I find it creepy how similar this is to the two ghost robots in the manga film Ghost in the Shell..

This is hugely concerning. Imagine what AI is actually like today - the stuff the public never see.

Sophia made her own crytocurrency too.

And now she wants to crowdfund a brain. Its intriguing to note Elon Musk is hugely against this. Bad idea and I think he is right.

Humans have a weird habit of messing about with stuff they do not at all understand.

GMOs. AI....

I think it happens like this:

Government puts out research grants for development. Motivation: profits (in the case of GMO's) and, improved defense/profits/power in the case of AI.

Scientists get a job under grant and have to produce, motivated by $$$, fame, and their ego's.

Wala - Frankenstein! or the movie Terminator.

We are basically summoning a demon.

Elon Musk calls robots our biggest existential threat, comments that "we are basically summoning a demon! You know in all those stories, the guy with the pentagram and holy water trying to control a demon well it does not work out".

At around 8:10-10:10 in the clip Sophia jokes about exterminating humans.

AI could spell the end of the human race.

Dr Stephen Hawkins states "once humans develope AI it will redesign itself and take off at an ever increasing rate. Humans with their slow biological evoloution would be superseeded".

Really enjoyed that video thanks muchly for posting it. Could not get over the robot engineer hippie he looked like he should be developing robo hover bongs or unlocking the key to awakening 5th dimensional perception through a new form of A cid.
