I think you are correct. The first world war was fought with the men still in the "empire" frame of mind and fell for the BS of King and Country. WW2 was a different matter, the normal soldier was more educated that his WW1 counterpart and could question in his mind. But the reason, justification for the war was, To the soldier, right and proper to rid the world of fascism.
But since then, Korea, Vietnam etc, etc. these wars have been fought for ideals (stop the spread of communism, stop terrorists) which ultimately can never be won. But more importantly the soldiers thought WHY, why are we here, why are we fighting that really has nothing direct to do with us.
In consequence THAT is the reason that a high number have come back with PTSD because of the confusion in their minds not as some put forward, because they have seen unspeakable carnage.
If that were the case then men from WW1 and WW2 should have high instances of PTSD as they saw just as much horrific sights. But they didn't. There were a small number of "shell shock" victims but not on the scale we see today.

It's not exactly like mental health services or the psychiatric field were doing so well in the years following the war. Couple that with issues like shame and embarassment that kept people from seeking help, and you have a large group of possible PTSD sufferers go under the radar. I knew a man who was active in the resistance during WW2 and he just became a different person, mean, nasty, agressive, horrible, always saying hurtful things. He made his wife and children's lives very difficult. It wasn't exactly talked about or an acceptable problem.

I am sure one day our paths will cross and we will both look back at this 'storm in a tea cup' and have a laugh.

The Higher logic (God) has allowed you to follow a path that is probably trained you in certain skills to function appropriately when all hell breaks lose in your local neighborhood.

A fighter in a isolated community of panicking people is better than nothing. So you are that DEFENSE that your town needs soon.

Some are physical warriors, others are spiritual fighters. God has put us where He knows our talents/skills will be best positioned to win against the 'Lower' logic (chaos) (demons).
