Facebook and Twitter could be asked to pay for action against the "undeniable suffering" social media can cause, the culture secretary has said. Cyber-bullying, trolling, abuse and under-age access to porn will be targeted in plans drawn up by Karen Bradley to make the online world safer.

Yep, soon it will be illegal to be a troll and site owners will face fines if snowflakes report them. The authorities will love this because they'll be able to hide again and we will not be allowed to question them. I don't think sites like ATS will actually survive if this happens. There would be nothing left once they have hacked it to pieces like this.

They are in the process of inventing an abuse tax. Anyone who is offended by anything will be able to get compensation from Facebook, Twitter and anywhere else if they are offended.

Personally I have never been offended by anything. I never report anyone, but of course there are lots of people who are a bit "fragile" that way.

I constantly have problems on ATS and Guardian. I get lots of stuff deleted, warnings, et c, yet I never ever report anyone else.

I think we are heading in a very STUPID direction.

They will make adults behave like children. We will all only be allowed to see stuff that is suitable for children unless we give our credit card/bank details, lol. As if I am ever going to do that.

You're crying about the US when it's the UK looking to put this policy in place. ATS is based in the US and, while I'm no lawyer, I don't think they are under any obligations to pay some UK hurt feeling tax.
