Thank you. I read through it, and it seems he has done more than I was aware. Perhaps he has earned that merit.

However, I noticed you copied the text verbatim into your post. You really should quote it as a source properly here at ATS using the "insert content from a news source" feature (the icon that looks like a piece of paper above) and adding the source link as well.

Thank God you are sill here to protect the dimwitted moron that is Obama. Frankly, I have no problem with insects being named after him. Maybe they can discover a new species of worm which would even better represent BHO.

Well, it will takes years or even decades to undo the damage Obama and his minions did to this country. Some of us are still angry.

OK, I am not aware of any "prodigious contributions to global biodiversity conservation" by former president Obama. Can anyone chime in on how that topic relates to the former president?

Google is your friend. These are 2 of the first articles that come up from a "Obama conservation" search.

Obama's 'historic' conservation legacy beats Teddy Roosevelt

President Obama’s Conservation Legacy: He has protected more U.S land and water than any of his predecessors

This is from the 1st article:

One of the lesser known legacies of the US president is his record as a conservationist.

During his eight years in office, he has placed 548 million acres of habitat under protection. This spans Arctic tundra, mountain woodland, and coral reefs with as much biodiversity as rainforests. The outgoing president created the two largest marine reserves on earth and the world's second largest desert reserve.

Collectively, this array of land and sea encompass an area nine times the size of the United Kingdom.

Mr Obama has protected more natural habitat than any president in American history, exceeding the 290 million acres by the founder of US National Parks, President Theodore Roosevelt.

In all, Mr Obama has added 22 new parks to the US National Park system, far exceeding the six created by his predecessor, George W Bush.

And this is from the 2nd article:

President Barack Obama has called conservation “a cornerstone of my presidency”—and the numbers back him up. He has protected more American land and water than any of his predecessors, in part thanks to the Antiquities Act passed by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. The act gives the executive branch the relatively unrestrained power to protect land by proclamation, without having to go through Congress. The Obama administration has also overseen the removal of more recovering animals and plants from the endangered species list than all previous administrations combined.

I could copy and paste more from those articles, but I think it'll be better if you simply take 3 minutes to skim them over.

ETA: And when you add in that this specific species was discovered "near Mr. Barack Obama's ancestral family village" as your link puts it, it makes sense why his name came up as a possibility in the first place.

That has absolutely nothing to do with his well documented record on biodiversity conservation, which is why his name came up for the naming of the ant in the OP.

Actually , he never did anything anyway . Twas Pelosi and Reid..

You didn't read my 2nd link or the quoted text from that link, did you? Let me re-quote part of it so you'll see that you're wrong:

He has protected more American land and water than any of his predecessors, in part thanks to the Antiquities Act passed by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. The act gives the executive branch the relatively unrestrained power to protect land by proclamation, without having to go through Congress.

President Obama’s Conservation Legacy He has protected more U.S land and water than any of his predecessors

As we both know, the executive branch is completely separate from Congress (the legislative branch). And course, the President is the head of the executive branch, not the leaders of the chambers of Congress. So will you be honorable & admit you were wrong with that or nah?

Naming a lowly ant (ants are socialists you know) after Obama fits...

LOL So the guy who bailed out capitalist Wall Street with the 2nd half of the TARP bailouts and bailed out our capitalist automakers is actually a socialist? The same guy who packed his administration with Wall Street executives, including Goldman Sachs executives? It's funny how people forget that he was criticized for filling his economic team with Wall Street executives, like in the following article which was published in Dec of 2009:

Obama's Big Sellout: The President has Packed His Economic Team with Wall Street Insiders

Anyone who says former Pres Obama is a socialist automatically loses credibility with me because it simply doesn't match reality. The man literally helped save the American capitalist system by bailing out some of our biggest capitalist institutions.

In other words, you're not good with context. Someone makes a thread & literally says "OK, I am not aware of any "prodigious contributions to global biodiversity conservation" by former president Obama. Can anyone chime in on how that topic relates to the former president?". Then he/she added 2 more rhetorical questions for good measure.

If they really wanted to know the answers, they could've done a 5 sec google search. It literally took me less time to google "Obama conservation", find 2 detailed articles about his contributions to global biodiversity conservation, and quote them in my response than it did to read the OP. That doesn't require "superior intelligence"; it simply required a few seconds of effort.

How is it "insulting" to point someone towards information, especially when they specifically asked for information on that subject? You sound like you got triggered because I didn't jump in on the Obama-bashing or something lol.
