As Prime Minister Narendra Modi was preparing to meet Donald and Melania Trump at the White House, China on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Indian Army accusing it of stopping the construction of a road in what it called its "sovereign territory" in the Sikkim section of the India-China border.

Chinese defence ministry spokesman in an official statement further said that the Indian Army’s act has "seriously damaged" border’s peace and tranquility.

The statement came out hours after news of Chinese troops transgressing into the Indian side in Sikkim and jostling with the Indian troops were reported by the media. The face-off between the soldiers of the two armies started in the first week of June and continued for ten days at Doka La general area in Sikkim.

After the scuffle, the report stated, the Chinese troops entered the Indian territory and destroyed two makeshift bunkers of the Indian Army.

According to PTI, the incident was apparently the reason why China didn’t allow 47 Indian pilgrims from crossing through Nathu La border in Sikkim into Tibet to visit Kailash and Manasarovar last week.

Tension Erupts as Chinese Troops Enter Indian Territory, Destroy Bunkers

New Delhi (Sputnik) — Ever since newly-appointed Indian Army chief Bipin Rawat took charge, India has expedited work related to building movable modern bunkers along the border shared with China. Sputnik reported in January this year that the Indian Army was using hollow block structures for building hundreds of bunkers near Sikkim.

“The face-off has been going on in Doka La general area in Sikkim for the past 10 days and the Chinese troops have also stopped a batch of pilgrims proceeding on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra,” Indian defense ministry told to news agency PTI. Doka La is located at the tri-junction of Sikkim-Bhutan-Tibet. The situation remains tense despite a flag meeting held between senior army officers of both sides on June 20.

China also stopped Indian pilgrims on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which is on the Chinese side of Tibet. At least 350 pilgrims were to cross over to China through the Nathu La Pass on their way to Mount Kailash, held sacred by the Buddhists, Hindus and Jains. "According to my information, the two governments are in touch over this issue," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Monday, but did not elaborate the reason behind the denial of entry for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage.

Apparently this tension between China and India has been ongoing for the last 12 days, yet no other western media is reporting this.

The Chinese military invaded Indian land to destroy a couple of bunkers that India had built close to the border with China. Sputnik states there was a major "scuffle" between the Chinese and India troops, and that both were engaged in a fight. Meanwhile the Indian newspaper, "the First Post" reports that the troops from both countries faced each other off after the Chinese troops crossed the border and invaded Indian territory to destroy the Indian bunkers.

Yesterday China lodged a protest over their claims that Indian troops stationed in Sikkim crossed the border into China.

China lodges protest over 'crossing of border' by Indian troops in Sikkim
PTI | Updated: Jun 27, 2017, 03.48 PM IST

BEIJING: China on Tuesday accused Indian troops of "crossing the boundary"+ in the Sikkim section and demanded their immediate withdrawal, while asserting that it has shut down the Nathu La pass entry for Indian pilgrims travelling to Kailash Mansarovar because of the border standoff.

China also said that it has lodged diplomatic protests with India, both in New Delhi and Beijing, alleging that the Indian troops trespassed+ into Chinese territory in the Sikkim sector.

Let's hope nothing major occurs because of this. Both of these countries are nuclear powers, and both have very large militaries.

Perfect time to see how each country deploys and how they perform. God know they know how the US does.

I guess we will have to keep our fingers and toes crossed to keep it conventional and limited to the region.

Does China realize that they are messing with a country that has more and bigger nukes than they do?

This will be interesting...

India needs to learn to stay on its side of the border .

They get uppity at times and china puts them back in their proper place . Not the first time that china has had to nor will it be last as india never learns .

I was thinking China was over reacting a bit. If this isn't the first time. They deserved to get a couple of bunkers brought down. Just hope none of them really over react. That would blow.

China and India each have sufficient Nukes to destroy each other.

If India ever lets loose, she will take out Pakistan as well.

I believe they both know the consequences.

Between the three you have close to half the worlds population, let that sink in for a while and then think of NWOs aim of reducing the world's population.

We might all get decent jobs again whereby the greedy corporations are forced to pay a living wage with benefits.

China has double the active military numbers, even reserve numbers, a third more tanks, almost 10x more artillery units, almost double the amount of aircraft, a navy almost 3x the size of Indias, and 3x the defense budget

I feel like China would make quick work of India

Sure, everyone would get "decent jobs" again, but the cost of goods due to the cost of manufacturing would skyrocket

Actually, it is China who needs to learn to stay on their borders. If you would have read the first article you would have seen that it has been China who started this conflict. China was building a road in the Sikkim section of the India-China border. Sikkim is part of India, it is not part of China. To make things worse, not only did China enter indian territory, they engaged in a fight with Indian troops stationed in Sikkim, and the Chinese troops destroyed two Indian bunkers in Indian territory.

Do you have a source for that? Not saying you are wrong, but I'd like to look at the numbers.

Unless India decides to use nukes, which is most probably what they would do eventually if China continues trying to invade Indian territory. The ironic part is that China now claims that it was the Indian troops who crossed the border into Chinese territory, but the road the Chinese were building was in Sikkim, which is Indian territory.

Both those countries have enough armaments and troops that unless they go nuclear it's going to be a LONG protracted battle.

No it is not. What it is, is disputed territory. Has been for a long time.

Amazing how people can blame one side or the other based on what minimalistic information that we have on this event.

So, yes indeed, jump on your favorite bandwagon and take sides ... just like a sporting event.

Really? With over one billion souls, how does China hold, control or even win a war with India? Or vise versa, for that matter?

I'd take the Indian air force over China's despite the numbers. India has sufficient naval power to cut China's oil supply from the ME. Both would suffer hugely if this goes beyond the usual border skirmish.
