Isn't it standard that the name on the ticket must match the name of the person in the seat?

That is correct.

like the cancer lady thread....gray area
either way you slice it the dude on the vid is the one that paid for the ticket. nothing nefarious was going on.
whats the difference if it was kid a in the seat or kid b or just the cars seat?
the seat was paid for by this guy....

not everything is cut and dry.
clearly SOP is not that big of a deal cause the car seat on the seat was totally cool on the previous flight.

it became a big deal when they sold too many seats

I can see the situation sucks but when you buy tickets, you agree to several pages of fine print.
Many of the rules that applied to the delta incident were faa rules and delta had no choice.

Everybody clicks "agree"

"You will be in jail and your children in foster care".

Just_like_that.

Not for any criminal offense, either. What amazes me is nobody comes to their rescue. They whole plane load of passengers just sat there (not happening to me), when they should all get up and file out in protest, wait in the lobby in a pseudo strike against unfair practices.

Hit them where they hurt, in the money pouch.

"We'll reboard as soon as you back off and let this family stay."

Never happening again. We have been reduced to servile minions of the state, yes even you out there in keyboard land.

Not sure what that type of a protest would do - the airline already has their money.

About the ticket and seat, Delta was technically correct, but definitely handled it poorly.

so why not enforce the rule on the previous flight?

A two year old doesn't need ID to fly?

I don't have kids so I've never even thought about it.

yeah. just like the situation with this guy.
piss poor management

dude bought tickets for his family. should have been a non issue

so his choices

get off the plane and sleep in the airport with his family or get arrested and have the kids taken to the state.
great choices our citizens are given in this country

You would think these airlines would be trying to avoid bad press.
I blame management for not understanding the situation.

Not sure what that type of a protest would do - the airline already has their money.

I bet 99% of passengers booked their flight with a credit card... stop payment.

(disclaimer) I completely understand the "meh" attitude on peoples parts today.

We have been conditioned to it.

Guess I'm just an old man with old school notions of inalienable rights.

Edit: Since this appears to be occurring with some regularity, if one flight gets canceled this way, maybe, just maybe it will incentivize others to do the same.

Nahhh... to busy to care anymore. We don't care anymore.

hows that work? i can see with a check
when i pay with my card i can check from my phone immediately and the money is already gone

also most people pay for flights a skoach in advance so payment is more than likely received

Has it always been like this? I haven't flown in years but I have had 2-3 incidents where I had to get up, BUT I was given a seat in first class, not kicked off. I guess if FC was full I would have had to.

I purchase airline tickets for friends fairly regularly, they cannot transfer them or give the boarding passes to someone else and expect to get on.

That being said I think Delta handled this poorly.

This post hits the nail on the head.....until WE THE PEOPLE stand together we shall continue to be farmed like animals.

I stopped shopping at Walmart because their Security guards MURDER PEOPLE and TORTURE and KIDNAP people....to protect a dozen eggs and someones moneybag.I will not fly United Airlines now because of their ANTI-HUMANITARIAN actions endorsed by ownership.....now Delta is on thin ice with me as well.I will pay more somewhere else to deprive these anti-humanitarian company owners of every single buck I can keep from them.

Really, used to be 30 days. Banks rule.

Maybe they can picket the ticket sales counter. Oh, never mind, people purchase on line.

Maybe they can protest and picket outside the terminal.

Ooh, never mind thats terrorism.

Y'all f---ed. enjoy your dystopia.

how it is for me
maybe it was like then when you had to use the old school carbon paper slide deals....i dont know man

even if it is 30 days. a lot of people book out further than that....

this should all be a non issue....for some standby bull#?

the airline should have had an easy response.
plane is full mr standby. sorry. maybe next time

instead lets boot an entire family basically cause an adult human was not in the seat that was paid for.
then they try to pull some # about SOP....

people are going to get tired of being treated like this...maybe not soon but it will happen

this dude was very calm but it would be hard. i know getting upset would only get your head cracked open but damn man....someone is going to have a different attitude one day and is going to go off and really cause some #.

I understand where you are coming from, but it would appear the name on the manifest for that seat did not match the boarding pass he was attempting to use since his other child which corresponded to that pass was on a different flight.

That being said, the crew handled this like crap.
