A hacker has allegedly released the first episode of the new season and is threatening to release the entire season unless Netflix pays a ransom.

Netflix said that a small production vendor that works with several major TV studios had suffered a breach. The Los Gatos, California, company described it as an “active situation” that’s being investigated by the FBI and other authorities.

The hacking group that goes by the name The Dark Overlord doubled down on its piracy of the new season of Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black” by claiming to have absconded with content from four other networks as well. ABC, Fox, National Geographic and IFC were specifically cited in a tweet issued late Friday from the Twitter account of the hacker, with a chilling warning: “Who is next on the list? FOX, IFC, NAT GEO, and ABC. Oh, what fun we’re all going to have. We’re not playing any games anymore.”

They claim they have hacked other networks as well and more is coming. Get ready to start seeing spoilers for the new season.

Might be a stunt by Netflix to add some buzz around a dying show.

Remember when Sony acted like North Korea hacked them so people would watch that garbage movie? (the Interview)

Why don't they do something useful and hack NASA and expose there lies and not this sh!t. The dark Overlord sounds a lot like Voldemort. Seriously a hacker group named after Harry Potter is not that scary.

Why does it matter? I haven't been following TV's anymore. Yes hacking is "bad," yes other people care about this TV show. Other than Netflix losing out on revenue, why does it matter?

That means I might get to "maybe" see how the walking dead finishes before I kick the bucket!?

Why wouldn't they hack us season three of Rick and Morty?

I stopped watching after Season 3. Nothing much happened on the show. A whole lot of women fighting, making out and plotting against men and each other.

Netflix could lose a lot revenue and pass on the cost to customers by raising the costs. I would cancel if they raised the price. The only show i'm looking forward to is Stranger Things Season2. I would hate to see that show get hacked.

I don't think Netflix will pay any ransom though, it would just encourage more of the same. Hackers bribing networks.

How many seasons can there possibly be? Piper got sentenced to 18 months, not years.

I second this.

North Korea was blamed for hacking Sony.

Turned out it wasn't No Ko at all.

Nothing but lies to hype a movie release.

Sony was brilliant in doing it though, people some how thought it was their patriotic duty to watch it. Demographs that otherwise wouldn't have even heard of it watch the movie.

Never seen this show and won't start now. Who would want to start this far in though?

Maybe a stint to see who will click the download link so they can crack down on piracy?

Good baiting..

Is this really such a watched show it would be the best choice?

I would think Stranger Things would be a much better show for that.

Nice way to boost the ratings having a FAKE publicity stunt. Bet.

Netflix releases their entire seasons all at once, anyways. And the same day they're on torrents, anyways.

I just checked the usual sites and it's not only the first episode that got leaked. All 10 episodes of Season 5 are now available. Looks like the ransom wasn't paid fast enough.

The whole season is now released.
