‘hobbits’ found in Indonesia NOT direct relatives of modern humans, scientists confirm

So the Flores Man is an entirely different species, not an early form of modern humans. Up til now this was what was thought about the hobbits.
I find it amazing that these "hobbits" were running around, til something or someone killed them off. Wonder how "smart" they were?

ANCIENT “hobbits” recently discovered in Indonesia were not an early form of modern human but an entirely different species, scientists have found.

The ancient hobbits, who would have stood at 3.5 foot tall, were found at Liang Bua on the island of Flores in 2003.

Not a shrunken relative of modern humans and most likely a different species all together.

Experts initially believed the Homo Floresiensis – or Flores man – were just a shrunken variety of early humans.

But a study by The Australian National University (ANU) found the race were most likely a different species altogether.

Researchers think they were related to a sister species of Homo habilis – one of the earliest known ancestors of modern mankind which lived in Africa 1.75 million years ago.

I got to tell ya this is freaky stuff. How did they live? Can you imagine walking up over a hill and seeing a bunch of these guys doing what ever they do?

I imagine very similar to early homo-sapiens. What would really be cool is if they had different senses than us. Say they could see infra-red like cats, distinguish smells like dogs, speak in stereo like dolphins and whales, change skin color like chameleons. There's all kinds of cool genetic stuff they could have had.

Im my mind they would be aggressive little f#ckers kinda like scousers (People from Liverpool), I bet they would never return the lawn mower you lent them and I imagine they get their kinks from stealing your wifes G string from the cloths line, that is if they could reach but I also think they would have been decent performers so I would not put acrobatics past them...


Either that or they where lazy twats that just lounged about all day scratching their asses and they died out due to a total lack or foresight to there demise if they stayed put.. For sure they could not have made it into the NBA.....

Don't think so. We can't get along with the species that are already living here. Why bring on another one and breed another form of intolerance?

They are human if they are related to Habilis. They are "homo", they are human. To be a different species would require a change of genus. I doubt they are not homo.

Known as the 'Ebu Gogo' - "Ebu" means grandmother; and "gogo," means "he who eats anything" - the local people called the Nage have passed down monstrous tales of this mythical beast for centuries.

It appears that humans and hobbits crossed paths. The above article insinuates 800k years (although it would not be sapiens at that point). But there were recent findings of human interaction around 50k years ago when Australia and its islands were populated during a prior out of africa event. The findings were human bones showing marks of consumption by Hobbit people, somewhat supporting the above legend.
