This isn't sexist or insinuates violence, its just really really bad.

Why not try something like 'heres a sapphire necklace, now shut up and cook me a steak already!' Or my personal favorite 'sorry I missed the anniversary, here is an emerald anklet. Are you going to put out tonight?'

Advertising execs have no flipping idea what they are doing anymore.

Hey TAT,
As a woman...and a past victim of domestic abuse...I feel the need to voice my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that sales pitch was meant to be seen, meaning the entire picture...not just the words alone. Whereas your thread title may have been somewhat misleading, lol...the picture with the sales slogan has an entirely clear message. (and it ain't violence)

What's next? Every person who says "hit me" at a casino table is also promoting violence?

It's Britney Spears song, "Hit Me Baby One More Time" all over again.
Yeah, I get it. The words "hit me" sound so ugly...but trust me, the words "I love you" AFTER being hit, well they sound so much worse.

I learned much about advertising (and appealing to certain potential customers) when I sold real estate, and I doubt that the store owners put out a vocal (radio) commercial stating only those words. (they are meant to convey throwing rocks/jewels/diamonds at her...when I saw the ad all I thought was, "I wish".)

Just my two cents (Cdn. so that's like 5 bucks for you)
jacy

Jacy, I'm sorry what you've personally experienced.
This faux, bloated, knee-jerk outrage only cheapens the very serious issue of abuse towards women, IMO.
Chelsea Clinton is a total idiot for jumping on this...but most of us already know she has the IQ of a lump of quartz.

Also IMO...you're a good lady, Jacy...you deserve to have lots of pretty little rocks thrown your way.

Have some nice shiny beads, Canada-girl.

This is what is wrong with people, anyone who looks at this and thinks that it is to be taken literally is just simple minded, and has no life, looking for any reason to complain.

HOW DARE YOU criticize the beautiful and extremely intelligent Chelsea Clinton!

SHE CARES, dammit...She just cares so damn much.

Unless it's money.

She tried to care about that and just couldn't. Remember?

LMAO.
I want to have a drink with you.

We could come up with all kinds of advertising for this company.

But I have a feeling they might get more protesting than this sign got.

Would be fun!

I know right?

This one makes so much more sense.

And it's still cuter than Chelsea!

Aww, thank you.

*puts shiny beads on and feels like she's at Mardi Gras now*

Why, Chelsea...why?
Why does every single story coming out lately seem to have a politically divisive angle?
Is Chelsea going to be your first female president? Is she starting to get her allies and groups (female?) behind her?
I don't get it.

This whole story seems ridiculous to me. Motive is key but forget that...let's just all misinterpret everybody now and jump to conclusions then assume that we're right.

The disgusting lovechild is setting the groundwork.

She is manipulating the impressionable Facebook sjws and banking on the fact that colleges and social media are turning out a bunch of whiners.

They are the best voting group and are ripe for a picking.

The "feelings over thinking" people are a growing threat.

She is just like her mom.

How about this 'it doesn't matter if the rock is sedimentary, metamorphic or igneous, what we do here is pure genius!'

Geologists all over the world would be slapping their knees over that one, but then again many are single males so I wouldn't get much business.

LOL

You didn't offend anyone with it.

OOO, except the people that wouldn't get it.

I wonder if she would've taken the same stance if it had been DeBeers, or some other powerful, international corporation that had used the tag line? In no way, absolutely no way, was this advertisement meant to be offensive. Wordplay, often very bad wordplay, has been the grist of the advertising mill for centuries.

I'm more offended by advertising tag lines that are grammatically incorrect. Anyone remember the Apple campaign "Think Different". That literally means to think the word "different." It used to drive me crazy. So there you go.

I guess "The Simpsons" wasn't too far off, eh?
I think there are far too many important things to worry about these days, besides some jewellery store ad.

Conundrum.

This is literally common practice in Saudi.

I guess the "sometimes" is any time she's been raped and is properly buried up to her neck.

This stuff is just getting downright ridiculous! Anyone who misconstrues the intention of the billboard as violent is either being purposefully obtuse or is just an out and out idiot! It is such a shame that common sense isn't an acquired skill because the people protesting about this need to acquire some of it pronto!

If it makes you feel better, just remember "Winter is Coming", July/16th.

After all, GOT is so much better than this trivial crap, IMHO.

Winter in July??
Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't sure when it was starting!

Yes, back into the place where my girl can set people on fire if she doesn't agree with them, lol.
Ohhh the irony.

Yup stupidity at its finest. If I had been the store owner, my response would have read something like:

"Look if you are too stupid to understand the context and meaning of the billboard, then you are obviously too stupid to be driving a motor vehicle on the roadway on which it is located. Thus the sign should not be offending anyone."
