Alternative facts aren't lies, they're truths that are disconnected from reality at the base.

I don't get cutting the Coast Guard, but they can entirely eliminate the TSA and I'd stand up and cheer. TSA does nothing to protect America from outside threats... all they're there for is to condition Americans to being groped by some pervert with a badge. Defund the TSA and use that money on the wall.

Yup.

Its been shown by studys the TSA is useless as they miss 97% of harmfull objects when tested.

Its just another form of welfare. Employ unkilled baboons from the ghettos for useless non jobs.

And isnt if funny the democrats where anti TSA under bush and all for cutting it but now a republican wants to cut it its a bad thing.

OP, in your post you say "Scary Mexicans" implying that border control is irrelevant.

Do you think an open border policy is good?

Do you want people from anywhere to just land there and get welfare?

I ask because, it just seems so ignorant to use that term, when the entire point is keeping borders secure.

But hey... go lambaste Trump more if you don't like the question.

Hey that's not fair asking about their hypocrisy. Just sit back like I do in these threads and allow your head to explode with all the Trump did it so it's a bad thing mentality. CNN taught them well. I recently glued my partisan hat on so I can learn the new ways of ATS.

I've been in the gulf for almost 20 years and the only thing the coast guard does is sit on their asses and harass the local fisherman. If You are a local fisherman and Your vessel is sinking don't expect them to come help because they won't. If you are in a jam the only people You can count on are those evil oilfield workers coming to the rescue.

savemebarry,

Heres something which might interest you.

First of all, illegal immigration from border crossing comprises the smaller percentage of illegal immigration into the US. Most illegal immigration is related to overstaying on a valid visa. Most of the people who do that, arrive in the US via air travel, their entry into the US is entirely legitimate at the time of entry. So the wall would do nothing to combat the meat of the problem with illegal immigration.

Then you have to consider the fact that illegal immigration into the US, particularly that coming from across the southern border, is actually diminishing not growing, as every study into the subject finds to be the case. Further to that, the one hundred and thirty miles or so of the US/Mexico border which is currently fenced or walled off, has made little to no difference to the amount of immigration or drug trafficking across that section of the border.

So, although the TSA is an organisation staffed by incompetents and ineffective at its job, it is actually on the real front line of illegal immigration. If Trump was serious about battening down the hatches, he would not be looking to de-fund or cut from the TSA budget, but he would probably be looking to fire everyone currently working for that organisation, and actually hire people who are capable of doing their jobs correctly, and preferably without causing sexual battery to most of the individuals they encounter.

The Coast Guard are another group who actually provide a vital and quality service, compared to the cost of its provision, and have notable impacts on the kind of illegal immigration that their area of operation is involved in preventing, as well as being effective at combating sea borne smuggling generally, again, relative to the cost of funding the operations they are involved in. The only thing which limits their effectiveness, is a relative lack of funding, when compared to the scale of the job with which they are tasked.

Furthermore, he would not be looking to erect a border wall or fence, because for a start, it will likely cost more than the nett cost of immigration over the course of the next decade (particularly with statistics involving immigration pointing toward decline not ascent), as well as probably prove ineffective at preventing crossings, the trafficking of drugs, or any other contraband, since workarounds already exist for such a thing, to allow cartels to successfully deliver illegal goods of all kinds, wall or not, across the border. It is not physically possible to build a wall so high that it cannot be climbed, nor foundations deep enough that they cannot be undermined and a series of tunnels built beneath them. In short, he is trying to beat human determination, and he will NEVER achieve that, no matter how hard he tries.

Trump knows exactly what he's doing, he's just following his orders.

"Do and say stupid things all you want, as long as the media bashes you then your supporters will ignore all the lies you tell and bad decisions you make just because the media is reporting it."

I'm pretty sure that's how the plan was drawn up. Have a compulsive liar put into office then plant the seed in his follower's minds that the media is out to get him so that whenever the media points out his foolishness his supporters will ignore it and believe the opposite.

They've basically set it up to where no matter how much Trump lies his supporters will believe the media is lying about HIM lying so that they (his supporters) will rationalize his lies into "truth", all in spite of the media.

He doesn't have many "supporters" as in people with favorable opinions of him. He does have "supporters" as in people willing to give him a shot while being very scrutinizing. Most of us just want to see what he is capable of. We'll give him a little wiggle room. Hell, most of us are giving him more because the media. I'd say that. That doesn't mean we are letting this all slide. We just aren't aren't going to listen to CNN and MSNBC when they are telling us he is selling antrax to kids when in truth he is selling them coca-cola.

WHile i don't agree with cutting any funding for the Coast Guard, i'd prefer to see the TSA go away. They cannot point to a single success. But there is a long list of failures.

The wall....is stupid. But whatever. Its a comfort feature to some folks (my latina wife among them). So whatever. Its not like our government doesn't fritter away enormous piles of cash. At least with this, itll be frittered away here at home and not overseas somewhere.

Anyone care to explain this with logic rather than just blind Trump loyalty for once???

You cannot expect logic from an idiot.

And once again you ignore the coast guard saying they didnt want that new ship to get in a bash in this circle jerk. kudos.

Ya gotta love the Trump Defenders and their dedication to defend Trump even in this. It's like a bunch of Stockholm Syndrome victims.

The problem with cutting the TSA, which I think we all agree has been a disaster from the start, is that it's just going to make a horrible problem worse. By cutting their funding their plan is of course to try and do more with less as if they weren't doing an already bad enough job already. This means that to make up for it they plan on doing more aggressive physical pat downs. They are even warning local police that they may get more reports from people complaining about abusive TSA pat downs now and this is why.

So I guess that's a step toward making America great again huh???? Because aggressive pat downs by the TSA was so fun before, now it's going to get even better. Oh goody, what a great idea.

As for the Coast Guard most of their time is spent intercepting illegals coming here by sea as well as drugs coming here by sea. According to them they are already under staffed and under resourced for intercepting all illegal ships coming here. So when your campaign platform rests so heavily on stopping illegal immigration and drugs you would think cutting back on one of the main agencies stopping that would not be wise choice. But that's what his idea is. Brilliant.

Let's face it. The reason he's building this wall is to say he kept his promise. Even if it means cutting back in places which work against the reason for building that stupid wall to start with. It's like putting a triple lock on your front door and having no locks on your back door. Just more illusions of safety.

All for a dumb wall that we weren't supposed to be paying for in the first place which we are now fitting the bill for at the expence of more important things. Classic Mismanagement of our tax dollars as usual.
