I did a "What's your favorite horror movie" thread here many years ago. I thought I would revise it since things have changed since about 10 years ago. I have to say my current favorite horror movie and the one that disturbed me by far more than any other movie ever has is "The Fourth Kind." If you've never seen it and you're into horror movies, I'd recommend it. It's several years old, but to me, it's one of the best horror movies to be released recently. What's your favorite horror movie?

I still think the original Alien, while billed as a sci-fi film, is one of the scariest movies made due to the great use of suspense and minimization of actually showing the 'monster'.

I like both The Conjourings...

I also like Insidious as an original concept with the astral projection and spirit world...

But my favourite has to be IT.
Untouchable in my opinion.

"The Shining," the one with Jack Nicholson, was my favorite for many years. Really didn't care for "Fright Night." I watched "The Keep" when I was really young, don't really remember much about it. I think I had a hard time getting into it and never revisited it.

For me both The Exorcist and the original Poltergeist still hold up.

After that I go with

A Serbian Film (while not a horror you do end up feeling horrible watching it)
Megan is Missing (dont watch this if you are a parent)
The Conjuring (works for a recent horror)
The Blair Witch Project (while the film itself isnt great the viral marketing that built it up was awesome)
Paranormal Activity (yay found footage, like the above)

"The Shining," the one with Jack Nicholson, was my favorite for many years.

Best horror film ever...

Stephen King wedded to Kubrick plus Nicholson...

priceless

Depending on how you define "horror movie", I still go back time and time again to the original "Exorcist".

I really never cared for "Aliens" much. There just was something about it I never cared for. I don't know if it was the whole "evil alien" thing or what.
Of course, it's very popular and a movie that's always mentioned in any conversation about Sci-Fi horror.

Watch "The Fourth Kind." The Exorcist has nothing on it in regards to creepiness and weirdness. I suppose what I found so disturbing about "The Fourth Kind" is that it's supposedly based on "actual events," though there has been some controversy as to how "actual" it was.
