The power of suggestion perhaps? ..in the OP?
Has me stumped this time as I remember braces..or did the suggestion in the OP implant the idea/image?

I remember braces.

She was at first shy about smiling, then she smiled at him revealing she had braes, he "Jaws", then smiled back widely revealing his complete set of metal teeth.

I don't believe in the Mandela effect either.

This is where I suspect that Pespi commercial with the little girl may have influenced our memories.

Unless... What if the original theatrical edit of the film showed braces in some of the frames and they were edited out only upon transfer to video (similar to the way a moving car was editing out of Return of the King when the videos were encoded). Given the way the braces appear visible in some of those animated gifs, I would not discount the possibility.

Common sense.

Common sense tells you that a thing like the ME could only be real if it involves changes in big world events, as opposed to more trivial stuff?

How is that common sense when both aren't "common sense".

Power of suggestion is the major problem with gathering evidence in this manner.

Common sense tells me it is never real.

Its funny, even the hardcore skeptics have to budge on this one.

Except now the explanation is our brains magically created the braces because we all believe she should have had them.....oooooook
lol

I frequent ATS from time to time but this caught my attention, especially since I am an avid bond fan and always remembered her having braces. It does seem strange so many people seem to remember them...

Has anybody seen the 'We are Happy' video from CERN? Jump to 2:30... Perhaps a troll, perhaps not

Then why are you making arguments saying it doesn't make sense because it doesn't involve big world events. I mean if it doesn't make sense anyway.....

The only other possibility I can imagine is how the movie ended. She and Jaws were on a small section of the dying space station. Did she smile at him then at the end of the movie to reveal that she had gotten braces so he wouldn't feel self conscious about his full set of metal teeth?

Just an after thought.

Because I want my contribution to be as nonsensical as the Mandela true believers.

She doesn't have braces in any scene.

That makes sense. Been decades since I watched the movie.

No the problem is that you actually think you are making good arguments and don't even get that your arguments are invalid.

If it is true what you just said then you are trying to obfuscate things on purpose.

It must be an alternative scene
because I clearly remember her with braces.
The metal mouths were the only thing the two
characters had in common.
It was a comic relief bit.

The world is definitely completely
screwed up now compared to those days.
That I know for sure.

The scene works just fine without braces. She's telling him with the smile that she doesn't care about his differences.

Why are we discussing an almost 40 year old movie like it's some new conspiracy?

Who cares whether or not she has braces - it's a MOVIE. You get that it's not actually real, right ?

Obfuscate on purpose, too funny.

The whole premise of the Mandela Effect is obfuscated by faulty memories and poor logic.

And frankly I could not care if my arguments are invalid since the whole theory is invalid. Now excuse me, I need to go jump timelines and create a new screen name.

Just because you remember her with braces doesn't mean she had them. Memories can change over the years.

It seems like this movie has stuck with you almost 40 years later - if it's been bothering you that long, you need to find a hobby.

@babybunnies,

Wow. Worst argument ever.

You do understand this is about the Mandela effect, right?

You're "who cares, movies aren't real" makes absolutely zero sense in the context of the OP.

The was more ridiculous then the most outrageous ME claims out there.
