Regarding the Sufis, many people try to define them but they can not be defined, thus the cryptic but simplistically honest answer that a Sufi once gave: A Sufi is a Sufi.

So, when you mentioned words to the effect of not knowing the definition of a nincompoop, for some inexplicable reason, it reminded me of the 'approach' of the definition of the Sufi. I just substituted words, as it was amusing to me to think that a nincompoop is a nincompoop.

As for your question of if this was a riddle you should have recognized, if it was, I wasn't aware of it. Your very question betrays perhaps a keen esoteric understanding on your part, as you saw more than I did. The Sufis play the fool and play them well. So, why would a Sufi know? Good question.
