Without seeing your answers, it's hard to say, but basically in the second post someone posted what the explanation was.

They are theorizing that Conservatives/Republicans have higher degrees of disgust which they are equating with fear/aversion and linking with conservatism.

Obviously we are either an extremely odd community or their hypothesis is 180% the opposite of what they expected.

54 % republican 46 % liberal, considering the odds that means Im still pretty sane after all.

Actually some research I saw a while ago--sorry atm I can't be made to look it up--showed that simply by having a water fountain nearby changed peolpe's liberal/conservative state. Maybe if I get ambitious I'll look it up. Mainly, it showed we can be "primed"--at least temporarily--to become more cautious and/or conservative on some issues. So while some people may behave more cautiously on their own, that might not mean people can't change temporarily. And I wonder how mcuh can change permanently?

Higher degrees of disgust means that they get more disgusted...

That's how I interpreted it, anyway. I have no idea how you'd see it 180 the other direction, but seems like that's par for the course between us!! lol!

The only things I was squeamish about were about dead bodies/parts, someone vomiting and stepping on the earthworm. That's because I feel empathy for others and their plight/misery/loss of life. That should make me more liberal, shouldn't it?

Like I said. Stupid test.

The game is not neutral and is balanced in the wrong areas.
This is another example of bad science catching on.

I took the test again, and showed no disgust at anything whatsoever, and I was a democrat.

90% Democrat and 10% Republican.

I guess when you have to take out your glass eye every night you end up not being disgusted by it. Earthworms can stay away though. FAR AWAY.

Strange test though. Wouldn't recommend.

I don't think it's supposed to be science. It's just for funsies.

It's definitely not what I would call a scientific test.

No worries! You are secure in what you are just as our Cowboy friend will not soon be voting Green Party.

Yeah. For some reason they think republican's are less squeamish. It's testing for squeamishness.

Nope, the study is based on the opposite of what you think.

"Conservatives tend to have more magnified responses to disgusting images, but scientists don’t know exactly why, Montague said."

ETA : From the source;
How does this work?

A 2014 study concluded that people who were more prone to disgust are more conservative and tend to align with the republican party. But, why?

Some scientists believe it's ancestral and that the adverse reactions were used to protect primitive ancestors from contamination and disease. This way a person wouldn't confuse drinking water with dirty pond scum.

The study measured participants' brain response to "disgusting" imagery using an MRI. The study could predict party affiliation with up to 98% confidence. The questionaire on chartsme.com uses Jonathan Haidt's disgust scale in lieu of MRI and imagery, so results are likely far less accurate. Watch TED Talk to learn more or read "Yuck!: The Nature and Moral Significance of Disgust".

I don't have to interpret anything. The people who posted it did based on this obviously flawed study someone did.

So, you see it differently than these fine folks, not me. Go back and read the very second post on this thread where someone already helpfully pulled and quoted the information from the poll source itself.

Lmao well this is somehow not surprising:

Conservative (48%)
Liberal (52%)

It says "your brain is a Democrat," presumably by a relatively small margin.
Makes sense. Extremely liberal, but do not agree with certain gun control initiatives, and cannot bring myself to vote for Clinton (nor could I Obama.) (Nor am I voting for Trump, nor did I vote for any other candidate last time around.)

Peace.

This is what you said earlier, which is what confused me as to your position:

Yep, the hypothesis is mostly bearing out.

You libs are easily disgusted which explains why so much offends you.

So we are actually on the same page that they are theorizing conservative = more easily disgusted.
